This weeks marks Vet Tech Appreciation week! While this week is traditionally dedicated to celebrating veterinary technicians, we believe it's an opportunity to recognize and celebrate every single member of our team because the care we provide is truly a group effort, and we couldn't do what we do without each and every person who walks through our doors to care for our patients.

These are the people who drop everything and jump into action when an emergency comes through the door. The ones who go home after a long shift and still find themselves thinking about a patient they treated weeks ago. The ones who talk about patients months after they've passed and carry memories of them for years. They're the ones who show up early, stay late, skip meals, lose sleep, and push their bodies to the limit because there's an animal in front of them who needs their help. They give pieces of themselves to this profession that most people will never see or fully understand.

Veterinary medicine isn't always easy. It's physically exhausting, emotionally demanding, and sometimes heartbreaking. But it's also filled with people who care so deeply that they wouldn't have it any other way and we are so fortunate to have such an incredible staff split between all of our locations that we truly cannot accurately describe our appreciation for them.

To our incredible teams across all three locations: We see you. We appreciate you. And we are endlessly grateful for the compassion, dedication, and heart you bring to this profession every single day.

Happy Veterinary Technician Appreciation Week to the entire team that makes it all possible! 🐾

🌀HURRICANE PREPARATION FOR PROACTIVE PET OWNERS🌀

**Currently, we are planning to remain open for our normal hours of operation during the storm, if we intend to make any adjustments to our hours in order to allow our staff to remain safe and indoors we will publish that information on our page**

With the upcoming potential for inclement weather, it’s important we take all precautions as pet owners to make sure we keep them safe! Below is a list of guidelines for those who may be preparing for bad weather:
First and foremost, pet owners should ensure that their pets have identification. A collar with an identification tag that includes the pet’s name and owner’s current contact information is a must for all pets, even those that live strictly indoors. When traveling, have a temporary tag with your current address and contact information.

It is also strongly recommended that all pets have a microchip and ensure that the microchip is registered to you with your current contact information. In case of separation, the likelihood of a pet being reunited with their owner dramatically increases if the pet is microchipped. In addition to identification, pet owners should have an emergency kit prepared for their pets. This kit should include:
🍽️ Food and water for your pets for at least a week.
💊 Any necessary medications. If your pet requires medication for anxiety during storms, be sure to have your prescription filled well in advance.
📒 Medical and vaccine records. Ensure that your pet is current on vaccinations. This will help protect them from diseases that may be present in shelters or other areas where people and animals are displaced.
🛏️ A sturdy carrier or crate for each pet, as well as bedding, litter, cleaning supplies, as well as familiar items like a favorite toy or blanket.
📸 A current photo of each pet in case you are separated from your pets and must provide identification to rescuers.

Make a plan for where you will take your pets during a hurricane. Never leave your pet behind as dangerous conditions may prevent your return for days or even longer. Know your zone so you are aware if you are required to evacuate. Some shelters may allow pets, but not all do. It is important to research ahead of time to find pet-friendly shelters in the area and have your pet’s vaccine records printed and easily accessible.

Research your evacuation zone and locate either a pet-friendly evacuation shelter or familiarize yourself with pet friendly hotels! Many hotels that don’t normally allow pets will often times make exceptions during natural disasters so be sure to call hotels in your evacuation area to make arrangements.

Finally, take steps to prepare your home for the storm. This may include securing any loose objects that could become projectiles during high winds, as well as reinforcing windows and doors. Pet owners should also have a designated safe area in their home where they can stay with their pets during the storm.
Pro tip: A small, plastic kid’s pool lined with grass sod can be used as an indoor bathroom for dogs during a storm

Bentley is a 6 month old super genius! He came to see us for some unresolving GI issues but stayed to show off all of the tricks he already knows. We would rate Bentley a 10/10 good boy! 🐾

This is Polo and his amazing family! Polo came to see us for some concerning symptoms his family was noticing at home and left us with some amazing original artwork. Pretty impressive considering dogs don't have posable thumbs and, scientifically speaking, shouldn't even be able to hold a marker! 🐾

We love happy visits! This is our Pal, Phoenix, and she came to us in July after feeling unwell aftter drinking some stagnant water off of a children's toy. After examining her and reviewing her bloodwork and x-rays, Dr. Kidder was most concerned about neck pain caused by a slipped disc in her cervical (neck) spine — a condition where the cushioning material between the spinal bones presses on the spinal cord, causing pain and discomfort. Which likely explained why she seemed lethargic and was not interested in food or water.

We gave this sweet girl some pain medication and love and were thankful for her owners who acted quickly as soon as their noticed something was off! Phoenix came to visit us again after she was feeling back to her normal self to show off her fresh groom and we think she is 10/10 the cutest and fluffiest husky in Leon County.

We are open from 10am-10pm every day of the week for walk-in visits! No appointments needed, ever.

🛎️ order up!

Mr. Buddy here was spending the day with us for some supportive care and was able to break free of his kennel long enough to get a delicious dinner sent to him via room service. If he could stop long enough to give us a rating, it would be five stars.

We're here from 10am-10pm every day of the week! No appointments needed.
