Important Client Update Regarding the Adequan® Recall
We want to reassure our clients regarding the recent nationwide recall involving two specific lots of equine Adequan® I.M. single-dose 5 mL vials.
AVS Equine Hospital did not purchase or administer any of the recalled single-dose 5 mL vials.
If your horse has received Adequan treatments from an AVS Equine Hospital veterinarian, your horse is not affected by this recall.
The health and safety of our patients is always our highest priority, and we carefully monitor manufacturer notifications and product safety updates.

Florida heat can take a toll on our horses quickly, especially after shows, trail rides, training sessions, or even just a hot day in the pasture.
Electrolytes play an important role in helping replace what horses lose through sweat, including sodium, potassium, and chloride. A simple daily electrolyte mixture can help support hydration before dehydration becomes a concern.
Electrolyte Mixture for an average horse:
1 Tbsp table salt
1 Tbsp light salt
Added daily to feed
Always provide plenty of fresh water, shade, and airflow. If your horse seems overheated, is not cooling down normally, or you are concerned, call your veterinarian right away.

Happy 4th of July from all of us at AVS Equine Hospital! 🇺🇸
As we enjoy the holiday, we encourage our clients to take a few extra precautions to help keep horses safe and comfortable during fireworks. Loud noises and bright flashes can be stressful for many horses, so checking fencing, gates, stalls, water, hay, and turnout areas before dark can make a big difference.

Consider bringing sensitive horses into a familiar, secure space and using fans, soft music, or white noise to help soften sudden sounds.
