Five weeks ago, this boy couldn’t see. 💔➡️❤️
When Dapper walked into our salon on September 10, his coat was so matted it covered his eyes. He was covered in fleas, in pain, and terrified of being touched. The people who brought him in never came back for him.
Our owner, Summer Gerhardt, spent time with him, slowly earning his trust, until he finally let her pet him. Then she told him: “I know you don’t know it yet, but your life just got so much better.”
She meant it. None of us knew how much better.
🐾 Our groomer Brandon Matlock knew right away he needed more than a groom
🐾 Rescue One stepped in the same day
🐾 Pounds of matting came off at the clinic
🐾 He learned to play again, to trust again, and to lean his whole body against the people he loves
And now?
Dapper has been accepted into K9s For Camo, and he’s training to become a service dog for a veteran. 🇺🇸
The dog nobody wanted is learning how to take care of someone who served. He arrived needing people he could trust. Soon, someone will be trusting him.
We put his whole journey in one place: the before and after, the videos, and every step in between. Grab a tissue first. 👇

Thank you to everyone who helped him get here. Rescue One, K9s For Camo, our Howliday Pet Resort family, and all of you who cheered him on. ❤️
If Dapper’s story made you smile, please share it. Let’s get it all the way to the veteran he’s going to meet someday. 🐶🎖️
