September is Animal Pain Awareness Month! 🐾

Our pets can’t tell us when something hurts, but they often show us in subtle ways. Changes in activity, appetite, mobility, behavior, or even sleeping habits can all be signs that your pet may be experiencing pain.

Pain doesn’t have to be a normal part of aging. From medications and supplements to laser therapy and other treatment options, there are many ways we can help improve your pet’s comfort and quality of life. 💜

Just a heads-up that Modern Vet will be CLOSED on Monday, September 7th in observance of Labor Day.

If your pet needs any medication refills, prescription food, or other supplies, please plan ahead and give us a call before the holiday weekend. 🐾

When you come to the vet but forget all about personal space. 😂

This sweet baby decided Piper needed ALL the love during his visit, and judging by that smile, we don’t think she minded one bit! 🐾

Some patients give us a tail wag or a few kisses. Others go straight in for the full hug. 💜

What are we looking at under the microscope? HOOKWORMS! 🔬🪱

This patient had quite a few unwanted guests hiding where you can't see them! 👀

Hookworms are intestinal parasites that can infect both dogs and cats. They attach to the intestinal lining and feed on blood, which can lead to diarrhea, weight loss, anemia, and other health problems.

That's why routine f***l testing is so important! A small stool sample can help us detect intestinal parasites and get your pet started on the appropriate treatment.

And here's another reason prevention matters: hookworms can also infect people.

Keeping your pet on year-round parasite prevention and having routine f***l exams performed helps protect your pet AND your family. 🐾💜
