Cancer Picked the Wrong Hero. ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿพ

Today we are celebrating Hero, a 10-year-old neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier, on his chemotherapy graduation day!

Hero was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) of the right proximal humerus and underwent a right forelimb amputation on April 15, 2026. Following surgery, he completed four rounds of Carboplatin chemotherapy, reaching his final treatment on June 17th.

As part of his continued fight against cancer, Hero has also begun receiving the Yale HER2 vaccine, an innovative immunotherapy designed to help his immune system recognize and target microscopic osteosarcoma cells that may remain after surgery and chemotherapy. The goal is to help delay or prevent the spread of cancer and improve long-term outcomes.

Heroโ€™s journey has been especially inspiring. Despite cancer, a limb amputation, and a history of intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) requiring ventral slot surgery, he has embraced life with enthusiasm, resilience, and a tail-wagging spirit that brightens every visit.

Today, we celebrate Heroโ€™s courage and this important milestone in his cancer journey. While we will continue to monitor him closely with routine rechecks and imaging, today is all about ringing the bell and celebrating how far he has come.

Congratulations, Hero! โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ You have truly lived up to your name.

๐ŸŽ“ Congratulations, Jaxon! ๐ŸŽ“

Jaxon, a 4-year-old Pit Bull mix, celebrated graduation day surrounded by his oncology team. He completed his 25-week CHOP chemotherapy protocol for B-cell multicentric lymphoma!

Canine lymphoma is one of the most common cancers diagnosed in dogs. Over the past 25 weeks, Jaxon completed 19 chemotherapy treatments. Today, his lymph nodes remain normal in size, his chest radiographs show no evidence of cancer spread, and he proudly celebrated his final treatment day. ๐ŸŽ‰

Congratulations to Jaxon and his family for their dedication throughout this journey. We are honored to have been part of his care and look forward to seeing him continue to thrive.
