It’s been a while since we’ve shared our mission and introduced ourselves! We have so many new riders and followers, so I wanted to take a moment to share our story.
My name is Livy, and my husband is Dowling. Together, we have two boys, Cash (3) and Waylon (17 months).
Blackwater Ranch started not as a business, but as a way to share my passion & pour into the next generation of riders as well as growing the equine community. Anyone who knows me knows I’ve always been the first to offer up my horse to share with someone else & that’s where it all started. Teaching is something I genuinely love and over the years, Blackwater has grown into so much more than just a place to ride horses.
Rooted in our love for God, family, and community, our mission is to create a place where people of all ages can grow, build confidence, make friendships, and chase their goals.
For our youth, that means learning responsibility, finding mentors, and discovering their place in the western industry. For adults, it’s a reminder that you don’t have to grow up with horses to become a horse person. You can start at any age! Horses are a lifelong sport and there’s always room to learn and grow.
Through our lessons, camps, homeschool program, and community events, we hope to do more than teach people to ride. With the support of our Blackwater family, sponsorships and local community, we’ve also been blessed with opportunities to support nonprofit organizations and help create meaningful opportunities for kids and families.
Ultimately, we want to bring people together, grow the western industry, and help raise up the next generation who will carry it forward.

🚨 We are opening up the costume contest to ALL LESSON & HOMESCHOOL students!!!! Please register at the link below!!! This is free! Costume contest will take place at the FALL SHOW OCTOBER 20th at 5:15PM! Contestants will be assigned a horse to dress up with and a team. For those registering just for the contest select “other” on the form when it asks to choose your classes.

Due to lack of interest, we are temporarily removing our pre-made group lessons until there becomes a demand again.

Happy belated 30th Birthday to our incredible farm owner, Livy! 🥳🐴✨

Yesterday, Livy celebrated a milestone birthday, and we couldn’t let it pass without thanking God for the gift of her life and leadership!

Livy, you are truly a fearless leader who guides this farm with grace and strength. God gave you a beautifully kind and generous soul, and you are always a living example of putting others before yourself. As a true social butterfly, your warm heart has turned this farm into a thriving, loving community where everyone feels like family.

Thankful for Shantaia and all she did for our Women’s Western Industry Social! During a busy season she stepped away from her work to donate her time to sing for our event in support of A Soldier's Child Foundation 🙌🫶
