Apple in Sharon, VT is finally home, safe, warm, and exactly where she belongs. ❤️
It’s hard to put into words just how much this reunion means. What started as a terrifying moment: a loud truck, a leash snapping, and Apple vanishing in an instant, turned into hours filled with fear, hope, and determination. She was in pure flight mode, overwhelmed and scared of everything, even the people trying to help her.
But we didn’t stop. Signs went up, the community rallied, and we held onto the belief that she would find her way back and often they do. Lost dogs don’t always make it easy for us, but Apple… she stayed close. Within half a mile the entire time. Quiet, hidden, surviving, and somehow still connected to the place she barely knew.
Last night, hungry and cautious, she finally showed herself at the feeding station. And then, in the stillness of the night—when the world felt just a little less scary, she circled back to her home. She then circled, hesitated, checked every angle of our trap… and then, just after midnight, she found the courage to step in.
Less than 48 hours after she disappeared, she was safe.
And the moment she was reunited with her mom… that’s the part that makes every second of worry, every ounce of effort, completely worth it. The relief, the love, the overwhelming joy—there’s nothing like it.
Welcome home, Apple. You are so, so loved. 🐾
