It’s been a few days since California Adopt a Pet Day (June 6th), and we still have three amazing long-term residents at Hitchcock Road Animal Services in Salinas, CA.

These dogs have not be chosen, not because of behavior issues—but because finding homes for large breed dogs is particularly challenging, especially once they’re no longer puppies.

Meet Samson, Cassius, and Jessy:

All three are great dogs. They’re not known for behavior problems, and they deserve the chance to be part of a real home.

-Sharing their posts to your social media
-Coming by Hitchcock Road Animal Services to meet them
-Considering adoption or fostering (even short-term fosters can change everything)

Large dogs don’t “require special effort” in the negative way people assume—they just need the right people to see what’s in front of them and give them a home.

7 cats and 9 dogs exited our shelter to our exceptional rescue partners - Santa Cruz SPCA, SCAR, California Bully Rescue, Peace of Mind, and Tails in Transition! Many thanks to you all!!

We adopted out 36 cats, 20 dogs, a turtle and a lovebird. 🥰
