BIG UPDATE: After more than 25 weeks in our care, this bald eagle is flying free once again.

When he arrived at SPCA Monterey County's Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in December, he was suffering from a broken coracoid—a critical bone for flight—and signs of electrocution. Through months of specialized care, medication, and rehabilitation, he regained the strength he needed to return to the wild.

Today, after a brief pause, he caught the wind and soared over the golden hills, circling above the landscape before continuing on his journey.

At just 2 months old, Popcorn is a tuxedo kitten with a playful spirit, endless curiosity, and a whole lot of charm packed into a tiny package. Whether he's chasing toys, pouncing on imaginary prey, or curling up for a nap, this little guy is making the most of kittenhood 🖤🤍

When Popcorn first arrived, he had a serious eye injury that needed medical care. Thanks to the dedication of our veterinary team, and the incredible support of our community, he received the treatment he needed and is now healthy, thriving, and ready for his next adventure 💙

Welcome babies! These two tiny Snowy Plover chicks hatched today under our watchful eyes. They are the 15th and 16th Snowy Plover chicks hatched at our Wildlife Center so far this year.

Our friends at Point Blue Conservation Science rescued these Snowy Plover eggs and brought them to us for care. Because Snowy Plovers are a threatened species, when we receive an egg that might be viable, our skilled SPCA wildlife rescue team will incubate and attempt to hatch the eggs.

The Snowy Plovers will stay in our care for the next month, learning and growing strong enough for release back into the wild.

You can help our snowy plover population to thrive during the March through September breeding season when visiting nesting beaches: please leave your pets at home, respect fenced nesting habitat areas, take only photos, and leave only footprints. Thank you for your support that makes all our rescues possible!

At 4 months old, Guapo is a German Shepherd mix with big puppy dreams, curious ears, and a whole lot of growing left to do. He's busy learning about the world one adventure at a time, whether that means exploring new places, making new friends, or discovering that sticks are apparently the greatest invention ever ✨

With a name that means "handsome," Guapo certainly has a reputation to uphold, and he's doing a pretty good job of it so far 😎
