🐾 MEET HANNA – THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE K9NETIC PACK! 💙

Help us give a warm welcome to Hanna, our newest part-time dog trainer!

Hanna brings hands-on experience in balanced dog training, having previously worked with Alicia Canine. She currently works full-time at Unleashed Canine, where she has also received training and continues to develop her skills as a dog trainer.

One thing we love about Hanna is her eagerness to learn! She’s passionate about continuing her education, expanding her knowledge, and becoming the best trainer she can be. 🧠🐕

📸 Pictured here, Hanna is working with Wall-E, one of our current five-week Board & Train students! Wall-E is learning to build confidence, develop impulse control, and become more comfortable navigating new people and environments.

🐾 FROM SNIFFING TO SOLVING! 🔎👃

Sammy’s scent work journey is proof that great training is built one step at a time! 💪🐕

When Sammy first started, we weren’t asking him to search or identify anything. We were simply teaching him that a specific odor had VALUE.

Now? He’s developing into one confident little detective! 🕵️‍♂️

Here’s how far he’s come:

🐽 Odor Imprinting: Building recognition and value for his target scent.

🧠 Change of Behavior: Learning to recognize the odor and communicate when he’s caught it.

🔎 Search Patterns: Developing a more confident, systematic approach to searching.

🐾 Final Response: Sammy is now learning to scratch at the box containing his target odor!

NEXT UP: BLIND SEARCHES! 👀

Once Sammy’s final response is 100% consistent, we’ll begin introducing blind searches, where the handler doesn’t know the odor’s location either!

Scent work isn’t just about having a good nose. It’s about confidence, problem-solving, independence, and clear communication between dog and handler.

And Sammy is putting all those pieces together! 💜

POV: you came for boarding and somehow ended up as the official errand buddy. 😂🐩🛍️

Elliot is hanging out with us for boarding, and while he’s here, we’ve been sneaking in a little extra training—because everyday life gives us some of the BEST opportunities to practice. 🐾

Today, Elliot tagged along to the pet supply store while we picked up food for all the doggies. Since we’ve been working on his leash manners, this was the perfect chance to take those skills out of the facility and into the real world.

🐾 Loose-leash walking through the aisles
🐾 Staying connected around distractions
🐾 Polite greetings with new people
🐾 Calm, confident behavior in a busy environment

And Elliot absolutely crushed it. 👏💙

Training doesn’t always have to look like a formal session. Sometimes it looks like grabbing a leash, running an errand, and giving a dog the opportunity to practice good choices in the places those skills actually matter.

Safe to say, Elliot made a pretty great shopping assistant. 🐩🛒

PLACE ➡️ PROGRESS: Building Neutrality Around Strangers 🐾

For Huxley, Place isn’t just an obedience command—it’s a tool for navigating the world.

Huxley has some stranger danger, particularly around unfamiliar men, so today we took his Place Board training out of the facility and into Tractor Supply. 🛒🐕

We combined Place + e-collar conditioning while people walked by, carts rolled past, employees worked, and plenty of strangers wanted to stop and say hello.

But here’s the thing: Huxley doesn’t have to say hello.

The goal isn’t to make him love every stranger. The goal is neutrality. We want Huxley to learn that people can exist around him without him needing to interact, worry about them, or make decisions about what happens next.

That’s where Place becomes so valuable.

🐾 Place gives him a clear job.
🐾 Place creates a physical boundary.
🐾 Obedience gives us something productive to redirect his brain toward.
🐾 Repetition teaches him that strangers can simply be part of the environment.

And today? Huxley did exactly that. 👏

Lots of people. Lots of opportunities. Zero requirement to make friends.

Because sometimes progress isn’t your dog becoming more social.

Sometimes progress is your dog realizing:

“They’re over there. I’m over here. And I’m good.” 💪🐾

That’s neutrality.

Your Belgian Malinois doesn’t have to do bite work to have a job. 👀🐊

Meet Loki. He’s got the drive, the energy, the toy obsession… and apparently, a future in flying. 😂💦

We’ve been introducing him to DOCK DIVING, and it’s quickly becoming one of our favorite ways to channel his natural athleticism and love for working.

But did you know dock diving is more than just seeing how far your dog can jump?

There are FOUR events we’re excited to explore! 👇

💦 Distance Jump: Launch off the dock and see how far you can fly!

🎾 Air Retrieve: Jump out and grab a suspended bumper over the water.

🚀 Hydro Dash: Swim down to retrieve a bumper and race back as fast as possible.

🏆 Vertical Jump: Test how high your dog can jump to grab a suspended bumper.

Right now, Loki is practicing distance and air retrieve. We haven’t introduced vertical or Hydro Dash yet, but we’re having a blast building his confidence and technique!

So why do we LOVE dock diving?

Because it’s more than exercise. It’s an opportunity to build confidence, strengthen the dog-handler relationship, provide an outlet for toy drive, and give athletic dogs a challenging activity they can genuinely enjoy.

And the best part? You don’t need a Belgian Malinois to participate! Dogs of all kinds can enjoy dock diving when they’re comfortable in the water, physically suited for the activity, and motivated to play.

We’re also incredibly lucky to have Sugarloaf Diving Dogs just 17 minutes from K9netic Pack! 💙 Having a facility like this nearby makes exploring dog sports that much easier.

Your working dog doesn’t have to follow the path everyone expects.

Maybe they’re a protection dog. Maybe they’re an agility superstar. Maybe they’re a scent-work fanatic.

Or maybe… they’re a flying alligator who just wants his toy. 🐊😂

What do you do when your dog doesn’t trust strangers? You give them a job. 🐾

Huxley came to us with significant discomfort around unfamiliar people, particularly men. Our goal has never been to make him love strangers or force him to interact with people he doesn’t want to meet.

Our goal is neutrality.

At the beginning of this video, an Instacart driver arrives to drop off a delivery—someone Huxley has never met. 📦 This gave us an unplanned, real-world opportunity to put his training to work.

We’ve been conditioning Huxley to understand three different e-collar concepts:

➡️ Come to me — move toward the handler
➡️ Go away from me — move into a directed position
➡️ Stay there — maintain that position until released

We’re also teaching him the difference between conditioned communication and a correction for an inappropriate behavioral choice.

And now we’re adding distance.

You’ll notice Huxley is working with a dragging leash rather than completely off leash. We’re currently proofing these skills from distances of up to 30 feet while still keeping that safety measure in place.

But the most important part of this video isn’t the distance or the equipment.

It’s that a complete stranger can enter Huxley’s environment and Huxley can still hear us, respond to direction, and work through the situation.

👏 No forced greeting.
👏 No stranger reaching for him.
👏 No expectation that he suddenly loves everyone.
👏 Just clear communication and appropriate behavior.

For dogs like Huxley, success doesn’t necessarily mean becoming “friendly.”

Sometimes success looks like:

“I see you. I don’t need to interact with you. I know what my handler is asking me to do.”

That’s neutrality—and for Huxley, that’s a pretty big deal. 🖤🐾

🚨 Puppy socialization is NOT just letting your puppy meet every dog and person they see.

Today we took training on the road to Lowe’s! 🛒🐾 Freddy joined us for his final follow-up lesson, and Oona came along during her Board & Train to work on public manners, leash etiquette, confidence, and neutrality.

And THIS is what real-world socialization can look like. 👇

A well-socialized puppy should learn how to experience the world without feeling like they have to interact with everything in it.

Shopping carts rolling by. 🛒
Automatic doors opening.
Strangers walking past.
Different flooring and surfaces.
Loud or unexpected noises.
Dogs at a distance.
And, this time of year… giant Halloween decorations staring into their soul. 😂🎃💀

That’s one reason we love training at Lowe’s. We can begin outside, let the dog settle into the environment, and gradually move indoors as they’re ready. The seasonal displays also give us some pretty awesome confidence-building opportunities!

The goal isn’t to create a dog who wants to say hello to everyone.

The goal is a dog who can see the world, process it, and keep moving with you.

Freddy’s owners have done a FANTASTIC job maintaining everything he learned during his Board & Train, and seeing that work carry over into the real world is exactly what we want. ❤️👏

And Miss Oona? She did fantastic too. Her family is going to be pretty proud when they see what she’s been working on. 👀🐾

To help every dog receive the training, enrichment, exercise, and care they deserve, all arrivals must take place during our designated windows:

🐾 Tuesday–Friday
9:00–11:00 AM or 4:00–5:30 PM

🐾 Saturday
9:00–11:00 AM or 2:00–3:00 PM

🐾 Sunday & Monday
CLOSED
Pre-approved pick-ups: 10:00 AM–12:00 PM only

These windows help our dog trainers stay focused on every boarding and training dog in our care. Unscheduled arrivals or late pick-ups interrupt their routines and pull our team away from scheduled care.

Please respect your scheduled time. Pick-ups or drop-offs outside these windows may be subject to an inconvenience fee.

K9netic Pack is growing, developing new programs, and welcoming new team members! If you see a new face at the facility, don’t be afraid to say hello. 🧡

👃🏼 SAMMY FOUND HIS NEW FAVORITE GAME…

And honestly… we didn’t see this coming. 😂

Sammy spends his Day School days doing more than just obedience. We’re giving him opportunities to learn, think, problem-solve, and have fun.

He’s been working on trick training like TOUCH and TURN…

…but his newest obsession?

👃🏼 SCENT WORK.

We’re teaching Sammy to search for and identify anise odor, then alert us when he finds it.

And that moment when it clicks? 🤌🏼

THAT is what dog training is all about.

We love giving our Day School dogs different ways to learn and finding the activities that make them LOVE working with us.

🥏 DISC DOG IN THE MAKING…

Loki has officially discovered another way to be ✨extra✨ 😂

We’re still in the beginner stages of disc—learning to track, catch, retrieve, and actually bring the disc BACK instead of celebrating with it. 🥏🐊

For a high-drive dog like Loki, this is the perfect combination of physical exercise, mental work, fulfillment, and FUN.

Could there be an UpDog competition in our future? 👀 Maybe.

Could we just keep doing this because he thinks it’s the greatest thing ever? Also very possible. 😂

Either way, we’re having a blast figuring it out together.
