Want a copy of our beef management calendar? Simply send us a message or email and we can send it to you.

This excel sheet, designed by Dr. Berr's mentor with Midwest Beef Cattle Consultants, has been so helpful to many of our producers to stay on top of their herds health and all of our producers who have kept up with it have seen significant return on investments with higher breed backs for their first calf heifers, increased calf crop homogenicity and increased weaning weights!

With the beef cattle market at an all time high it can be so important to get that additional value.

Case Highlight:

This horse was found squinting with "chunky" discharge one morning, luckily her owner had our number (864-337-3758) and gave us a call.

After further evaluation it was determined that she had a stromal abscess- that's a fancy word for an abscess in the cornea of her eye. We placed an subpalbebral lavage (SPL) line and started aggressive therapy. After a few days she almost looked worse as the blood vessels invaded the area.

At her recheck (3rd photo) we performed intrastromal injections with medication to help reach the abscess, and now 10 days later her abscess is almost completely healed!

In about another week we hope to remove the SPL line so this girl can go about her life again- eye (and vision) intact!!

We are a mobile, large animal exclusive, service. We serve a 1-hour-drive-time radius from Pendleton, SC!

🚨Emergent🚨 ocular conditions are acute and vision-threatening; they include:
Acute periocular swelling
Eyelid lacerations
Corneal ulcers
Stromal abscesses
Blunt or sharp trauma to the globe,
Uveitis
Glaucoma

Because clinical signs of ocular disease are nonspecific and vision is critical to horse safety and performance, as well as to human safety, concerns about a horse’s ocular health warrant prompt examination by a veterinarian. Accurate diagnosis and fast, effective treatment are critical to preserve the globe and minimize long term impacts on vision.
