I feel like sometimes we forget that the process takes TIME🙌🏻

Training a barrel horse doesn’t happen overnight, and it shouldn’t. With social media and the pressure to constantly see progress, it can be so easy to rush the process because we feel like we’re falling behind.

But the truth is, these horses aren’t machines. They have good days, bad days, things they understand quickly, and things that take a little longer. Sometimes the best thing we can do is slow down, listen to them, and meet them where they’re at instead of forcing them to fit into our timeline.

Every horse is different. Every horse learns differently. Every horse has their own strengths, weaknesses, personality, and pace.

And honestly, that’s something I take a lot of pride in here at Send It Performance Horses. I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach. We believe in getting to know the horse in front of us, building a foundation, and giving them the time they need to truly understand what we’re asking.

Because at the end of the day, I’d rather take the time to build a horse correctly than rush the process just to say we got there❤️‍🔥

Trust the process. Trust your horse. And don’t let someone else’s timeline make you feel like you’re behind🖤

There’s a version of burnout that nobody really talks about.

It’s not always wanting to quit. Sometimes it’s still loving what you do, but realizing you’re exhausted from constantly trying to be better, do more, accomplish more, and prove that you belong.

I’ve spent a lot of time believing that if I slowed down, I was falling behind. That I needed to ride one more horse, accomplish one more goal, post one more thing, say yes to one more opportunity. Somewhere along the way, I started measuring my worth by how productive I could be.

And honestly, sometimes you get so focused on building the life you dreamed about that you forget to actually enjoy living it.

I’m learning that taking a step back doesn’t mean I’m giving up. Rest doesn’t mean I’m lazy. Having a hard season doesn’t mean I’m failing. And needing to find your motivation again doesn’t mean you’ve lost your passion.

Sometimes you just need to breathe.

I’m still ambitious. I still have big goals. I still want to see how far I can take this. But I’m learning that I don’t have to destroy myself to prove how badly I want it.

The goal isn’t just to build a life that looks good from the outside.

It’s to build one that I actually love living🖤

Not every horseman is called to the same role.

Some are competitors who thrive under pressure and love the thrill of the arena. Some are incredible horsemen who may never win big, but their feel, timing, and understanding of a horse are second to none. Some are gifted coaches and mentors, pouring into the next generation and helping others achieve their dreams.

Some are trainers who would rather stay at home, starting colts, solving problems, and building great horses than chasing rodeo miles. And some are blessed to do a little bit of all of the above.

I’ve seen champions who have won a lot but aren’t great horsemen. I’ve seen outstanding horsemen who rarely compete or never seem to win. I’ve seen people who excel at both.

I’ve also seen trainers who have no desire to compete they simply love developing horses and helping others succeed. And I’ve seen successful competitors who are so busy competing that they don’t have the time to coach.

None of these paths is more valuable than another.

The horse industry needs competitors, horsemen, trainers, coaches, and mentors. Each one plays a different role, and together they make our industry stronger.

So don’t compare your journey to someone else’s. Keep working hard, stay true to the role God has called you to, and do what brings you joy.

Success isn’t determined by the arena you’re standing in. It’s determined by the impact you leave behind and by the horses and people who are better because you crossed their path.
