🌱 We’re Hiring a Part-Time Farmhand! 🌱

Do you love working with animals, being outdoors, and helping kids learn about farm life? Sugar Roots Farm is looking for a part-time farmhand to join our team and support hands-on learning on the farm.

What You’ll Do:
🐐 Lead fun, hands-on tours for students
🌻 Help with gardening, farm chores & daily operations
👩‍🌾 Support volunteers, summer camp & community events
🐴 Care for animals with compassion and sustainability

What We’re Looking For:
📚 Great with kids and groups of all ages
🗣 Strong communication and leadership skills
🌿 Team player who takes initiative
☀️ Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
💪 Able to lift up to 50 lbs

We’re getting our air-conditioned indoor space ready for summer camp so campers have a cool, comfortable place to rest and recharge between activities.

How We Keep Camp Fun, Free-Range, and Comfortable (Even in the Louisiana Heat!)

At Sugar Roots Farm, we believe kids learn best when they’re free to explore, play, and follow their curiosity 💚

That’s why our camp is designed around a free-range kids philosophy all while keeping campers happy, cool, and safe during warm summer days.

Here’s what that looks like:

🐐 Explore, then cool off
Campers spend time outdoors meeting animals, gardening, and playing—then head inside to reset before heading back out again.

🌤️ Plenty of shade for outdoor fun
Free play and activities happen in shaded areas so kids can stay comfortable while still enjoying fresh air.

❄️ Indoor A/C breaks built into the day
Our fully air-conditioned indoor space is part of the daily flow—used for crafts, games, snacks, and quiet time to cool off and recharge.

💧 Hydration happens often (and naturally!)
Water breaks are frequent and encouraged throughout the day.

🤝 Small groups, close supervision
Kids have the freedom to explore while being closely supported by attentive staff who watch for comfort and energy levels.

This is not an all-day, full-sun camp. It’s a relaxed, well-paced blend of outdoor adventure and indoor comfort—so kids can be curious, confident, and carefree in a safely environment🌿

Santa’s not the only special guest rolling into the farm this weekend… and yes, we're getting a little nutty!

This Sunday, the iconic PLANTERS® NUTmobile is rolling into Sugar Roots Farm to celebrate the holiday season! This 26-foot-long peanut on wheels has been spreading smiles since 1935, and now it’s making a festive stop at the farm to crack a few more. 🥜✨

Come meet this year’s Peanutters: Almond Aria, Nutty Huddy, and Mayeselnut and snap some fun photos, and enjoy this shell-ebration with the whole family 😄



From Santa and farm animals to crafts, music, and a nut-believable surprise—this is one weekend you won’t want to miss!

Behind the scenes at Sugar Roots Farm… and the animals are BUZZING with excitement! 🐴🎅

Santa hats are on, Christmas decorations are going up, and every goat, pony, chicken, and bunny is getting ready for the BIG weekend!

They’ve been practicing their poses for Santa photos, fluffing their fur, jingling around the farm, and waiting (not-so-patiently 😆) to meet all the families and friends coming to visit.

From festive treats to holiday hugs, the animals can’t wait to celebrate Christmas on the farm with you. ❤️

🍁 Thanksgiving Week at Sugar Roots Farm!
We’re open everyday Thanksgiving week from 9AM to 1PM daily. Bring the kiddos for a morning at the farm! They can run, play, dig, explore, and of course, meet all the animals.

CLOSED on Thanksgiving Day so our farmers (and animals!) can enjoy a little holiday rest.

🦃✨ Come meet our newest farm friends — Luna & Riddle, our stunning Heritage Blue Slate and Red Bourbon turkeys!
These heritage breeds are known for their beautiful feathers, calm personalities, and rich history with shimmering soft blue-gray plumage, and deep copper-red hues.

Fun fact: Heritage turkeys are naturally raised, excellent foragers, and slower-growing, which makes them a wonderful part of sustainable, traditional farming. They love roaming the pasture, chatting with visitors, and showing off those gorgeous feathers!

Shop local this Thanksgiving! Bring a taste of the farm to your table with our farm fresh eggs and golden honey. Perfect for baking, charcuterie board, or gifting to your holiday host. 🍯🥚
