Le***es growing fall veggies, y’all!

Yesterday was our first ever Preseason Farm Share pickup. First time we’ve ever tried to do something like this in September when we’re still ramping up and it’s still insanely hot. But we made it happen with lots of fresh greens, radishes, peppers, and some extra veggies from our friends at Faust Farms and Fat Cat Farm.

In fact it worked out so well that we’ve opened up more spots for the Preseason Share. Preorder for two remaining weeks or get a Veggie Box one week at a time. The spread will continue to grow, and hopefully the temperature will continue to fall!

Look at that broccoli rabe!🌱🌿

So many fresh and flavorful greens for our first Preseason Farm Share tomorrow. It’s just the beginning of our season and it’s still stupid hot, but it’s already starting to feel abundant and we’re so excited to be back at it, three weeks earlier than we’ve ever been.

Preseason shares are currently sold out (might change, stay tuned) but there are still spots available in our other fall shares:

The dog days of summer planting are over. But fall planting continues with over 6500 in the ground this week. It was a big hurdle that got done because we have a hell of a crew 👩‍🌾and a great emotional support team 🐾 at the farm this season!

Chipping away at planting today: 3200+ plants in 2200’ of beds.

Grateful for an overnight storm that added some much needed moisture to the soil.

Looking forward to abundant brassicas in the coming months💚

We’re not just growing greens - it’s the start of the poultry season at River Queen Greens too! Yardbirds Farm is raising their first batch of chicks for the fall, and ducks are coming soon!

They’ll be out on our pastures in no time, eating grass and leftover cover crop and pooping up a nitrogenous storm to add lots of fertility for future veggie plantings.

Yardbirds Farm frozen chickens and ducks are available at our market stand every Sunday in City Park. If you haven’t tried one of them yet, you’re in for a treat!

Hello radish, my old friend!

We grow radishes for about nine months of the year, but this is just the beginning of the season so these are extra exciting.

We’ll have them at market tomorrow, along with salad greens. They will probably go fast so don’t sleep in! ⏰
