We are beyond grateful for our supporters! Last month, we unexpectedly rescued Maggie off of Airways Boulevard in Memphis, TN. She was covered in fleas, had patches of hair loss, random ticks, and unsure about the world.

One month later, Maggie is getting all the love in her foster home and gaining confidence everyday! She is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

Because of your generosity, almost all of her medical expenses were covered! What a special gift you gave to Maggie 🥹 This allowed us to give Maggie the care she needed, while continuing to care for the other dogs in the rescue without having to worry about an added expense. We thank you. Maggie thanks you. We cannot do this work without it you!

Adoption Fees explained so perfectly 💛

A lot of people complain about adoptions fees. But we want you to think about the adoption fee a little differently.

Consider it a donation toward the next dog who needs us.

Before a dog is ready for adoption, they may need:

🩺 Vet exam: $50–$100+
💉 Vaccines: $50–$150+
🪱 Heartworm test: $25–$50
💊 Heartworm & flea/tick prevention: $30–$100+
✂️ Spay/neuter: $150–$400+
🧪 Bloodwork: $75–$200+
🦷 Dental care: $300–$800+
❤️ Heartworm treatment: $500–$1,500+
🏠 Boarding, food, supplies & transportation: it adds up quickly

And that's just the routine stuff. Injuries, illnesses, medications and emergency care can turn one dog's bill into thousands of dollars.

Our adoption fees often don't come close to covering the actual cost of caring for a dog.

That's why your adoption fee matters.

It helps cover a portion of your dog's care, but it also helps us continue caring for the dogs who are still waiting, the dogs who need medical treatment, and the next dog who needs someone to say, “We'll help.”

So when you adopt, consider your adoption fee a donation toward the next dog, too.

Maggie has been off the streets for two weeks and settling into home life beautifully 🩷

She is playful, loving, and has learned to trust her surroundings. She does great with other dogs and doesn’t seem to mind the cats, just normal curiosity!

Maggie is vaccinated, microchipped, and is scheduled to be spayed. She would do great in a home with other dogs and with people who can continue to guide her and show her the world is safe.

Through the busy week of getting my house ready for two new fosters, puppy pick ups, and gathering supplies for all five new Happy Tails dogs, I came across another dog, looking for a new home while out.

I started conversation with her pet parent who needed a little direction as she was trying to navigate a situation at home. She has three one year dogs (litter mates) who desperately needs to find a home of their own.

Although we can’t take them under the rescues care, we can share a post to get the words out 🩷

This is Tully, he is the biggest boy. He is super sweet and loves to fetch and bring his toys. He is neutered and I can guess maybe 33 lbs.

This is Izzabelle, (also responds to Izza) who you met today. She weighs 28 lbs and is spayed. Good on leash and very sweet.

This is the smallest girl, Luna. She prob weighs about 22 lbs and is super affectionate. She likes getting under the covers to cuddle. She has not been spayed yet.
