This past weekend we wrapped up our Fall hunt test season at Mid-South Hunting Retriever Club with 8 dogs running Master. We put on a solid showing walking away with 7 passes, with two of our owners running their dogs. We decided this year that we will be running the 2027 Master National so getting a jump on qualifications has been a huge weight off our crew as we look forward to the Spring and wrapping up some titles and qualifying. Huge shout out to the host club, workers, and judges for setting up 3 quality tests and getting us done in 1 day!

We had a super busy few weeks surrounding The Grand and didn’t have the chance to brag and post about our dogs that ran Old Hatchie! We had some first time handlers and first tests, dogs running new stakes, and two new Hunting Retriever Champions! It was a fantastic weekend sitting back, coaching, watching our owners run their dogs, some in their first tests, and others, months of preparation coming to fruition in their new Champions!!

2026 Fall Grand has come to an end with one bullet left in the chamber. After making quick work of our first series, we ran head first into a wall losing Tallie, Dyson and Penny going down to one bullet, Leo into the 3rd. Leo ran the rest of the Grand on 1’s and his back against the wall, but the only way to fight back when you’re in a corner is to keep swinging!!

This one is extra special. Leo is our first client dog and Ed Apple took a chance on me and us. Leo always shined and I always said wait until he is older and he will shine. Leo has always been right there in the top of our roster but has lived in the shadow of Dyson and Tallie, however, this time… it’s his time to shine.

Thank you Ed for not giving up on us and staying with it, Leo put on a clinic this week and is beyond deserving of this Grand pass.

He joins a small group of British dogs with Grand passes, and hopefully in the Spring he joins a select group with a Grand Title.

3xGRHRCH Tallie MH brought home a Reserve Jam in today’s O/H Qualifier at Central Arkansas. While it wasn’t the finish or showing we hoped for, it felt good to finally finish a Q and get the monkey off our back. 3rd time is a charm!

We had a good week this past week at the Firewater Double Master test in Jonesboro, AR. We’d like to thank Sean Jackson, Lance and Tucker Vines for the use of their great property, the judges for setting up two great quality tests given the heat, John 3:16 Ministries for working non-stop to keep the tests rolling, and last but not least, our owners for believing in us and allowing us to campaign these great animals.

Our group ended the week going 12/16 with 1 new Master title.

The week belongs though to our very own, ris’m with a tism, stared death in the face and laughed, Penny Monster! She went 2/2 this week to obtain her MH title!!

Handler errors, handling mishaps, Buckley bailing you out and you bailing Buckley out, it was a pleasure to be there for it and hope the lessons learned will carry you in the years to come!

Also, congrats to our good friend Philip Rodgers and his dog HRCH Rooster on their 5th Master pass!

We’d like to thank North MS Delta HRC and our judges this past weekend for their time and efforts, especially in the heat! It was a light weekend for us, with just one dog, but we went 2/2 for the weekend and got out of there Sunday before the heat got too unbearable.

Great day training going this morning at the farm. We were able to get in and beat the heat! We had some new faces out alongside the normal clients and training group with all ages of dogs, from puppies to our Grand crew. Young dogs ran as singles, and everyone else ran as a double double, thrown M1/M2 & M3/M4.

2026 Spring Grand is in the books. This was by far one of the hardest grands we’ve ran in a long time, between bird placement, cover, lack of wind at times… but it is The Grand and if it was easy, it wouldn’t mean as much.

We brought to the line 4 incredibly talent and experienced dogs and slowly, losing 2 of our strongest bullets in the 1st series, Dyson and Leo. In the second series, Georgia wanted the 184 yd punch bird a little too much. However, when the dust settled, Tallie rolled into the 4th on 2’s where we burned our handle on the last mark to avoid potential trouble…. That ribbon ain’t any bigger for trying to be a hero.

When the dust settled, or should I say pouring rain stopped, Tallie brought home our only pass from Kentucky making her a 3xGRHRCH. Now the pursuit of the Hall of Fame gets serious as we chase points and that coveted 4th pass.

Couldn’t have done it without a huge support system. Our clients support, training group back home, those that held down the fort while we were on the road, our Grand Training Group (Jim Templeton, Eddie Benetz, Debins, McMurray, Edmunds, & Bob Casali). However the biggest thanks goes to the Queen of this crew Stephanie Opp Grisanti. Your girl is something special and I’m proud to be the one that stands next to her!

Last weekend we ran our last hunt test of the Spring at East Arkansas HRC, going 7/8 in Finished! We’d like to thank Chris Akin and Webb Footed Kennels for the use of their fantastic grounds and our judges for donating their time!

Picking up passes were:

2/2 Newly Official GRHRCH Tallie MH (1MN Plate) owned/handled by Stephanie Opp Grisanti. Saturdays pass gave her the last needed 15 points to make her Grand title official and solidifying her as our first Grand Champion.

While I was judging, our team was out running on their own! It was a good weekend for the baby dogs and our personal dogs! Owners running their dogs in Started and the most beautiful handler in the game Stephanie Opp Grisanti flew out of the nest to run Finished for the first time all by herself!
