This is not a post we like to make and a very heartbreaking update from the ranch, but we want to be open and honest as we know many of you were awaiting this day.
Friday night, our sweet Annie became a mama and welcomed her two babies into the world. Her little piglets were doing so well, and we were so hopeful watching them settle in with their mama.
Sadly, sometime last night, both babies were accidentally rolled on by Annie and didnโt make it. ๐ As devastating as it is, this is unfortunately something that can happen with mama pigs and newborn piglets, especially during those first fragile days. It doesnโt make losing them any easier.
Our biggest concern now is Annie. She isnโt doing well herself, and our vet came out first thing this morning to evaluate her. She has started antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication, and weโre keeping an incredibly close eye on her while giving her all the love and care we can.
Itโs been a really hard couple of days here at the ranch. Raising animals brings so much joy, but days like today remind us just how much heartbreak can come along with loving them.
We could use all the prayers you can send for our Annie girl. ๐ค Please pray that her body responds to treatment and that we start seeing our sweet girl feeling like herself again very soon.
