Today is a good reminder to check in with the people around you. Ask how they are doing. Listen without trying to fix everything. Encourage someone to take a break or get support when they need it.

You do not have to wait until someone is in crisis to start the conversation.

If you or someone you know is struggling or needs immediate support, call or text 988 to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Take care of yourself. Lookout for your coworkers. And do not be afraid to ask for help.

We love a cooperative patient, and Bella Rose definitely understood the assignment! She was more than happy to eat her activated charcoal all on her own.

So, what exactly is activated charcoal? In certain cases, veterinarians may use activated charcoal (also known as Toxiban) after a pet has ingested something potentially harmful. It can help bind to certain toxins in the digestive tract and reduce how much is absorbed into the body.

โ€ผ๏ธ Important reminder: Activated charcoal isn't right for every toxin or every pet and should only be given under the direction of a veterinarian.

If your pet gets into something they shouldn't, call your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary hospital right away so they can help determine the best next steps.

Thanks for helping us with today's lesson, Bella Rose! ๐ŸŒน

At EPCT, every patient who comes through our door is evaluated through a triage system, similar to what you may experience in a human emergency room. This allows our veterinary team to assess each patient and prioritize those with the most critical or life-threatening needs first.

No matter where your pet falls in the triage process, our goal is always to ensure they receive the care and attention they need.

We're so grateful when clients take time to share their experience with our team. Thank you for trusting EPCT to be here when your pet needs us most.

๐Ÿฅต A parked car can become dangerous faster than you think.

Even on a warm day, temperatures inside a vehicle can climb rapidly, putting pets at serious risk for heatstroke in just minutes.

If you're running errands this summer, the safest place for your pet is at home in the air conditioning.

Signs of heatstroke can include:
- Excessive panting
- Drooling
- Weakness or collapse
- Vomiting
- Bright red gums

If you suspect your pet may be overheating, seek veterinary care immediately. Heatstroke is a medical emergency.

Our team had a great time at Horseman's Market Day on August 15th at the Brazos County Expo! ๐Ÿด

Hosted by the Brazos Valley Driving and Riding Club, this annual event brings together animal lovers from across the region for a full day of shopping, connecting, and fun.

We loved meeting so many famillies from Magnolia and the surrounding communities, sharing more about our team at EPCT. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to say hello!

My dog ate something they shouldn't have... now what?

Pets are curious, and sometimes that curiosity leads them to things they should never eat.

If your dog gets into something unexpected, try to:
๐Ÿพ Remove access to the item if it is safe to do so
๐Ÿพ Keep the packaging or ingredient list if available
๐Ÿพ Note what was eaten and how much
๐Ÿพ Contact ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435
๐Ÿพ Contact your primary veterinarian or our team for guidance

Some toxins and foreign objects can cause serious problems, even if your pet seems fine at first.

When in doubt, it's always better to ask.

Stories like Lucy's are why we do what we do. โค๏ธ

When a tiny 12-day-old puppy needed emergency care, our team was there to help give her the best chance at a healthy future. We're so grateful her family trusted us during such a critical time.

Thank you to Lucy's family for your kind words! Wishing this sweet girl a lifetime of happy, healthy adventures!

When Kitten Hitchcock (orange kitten pictured) arrived at EPCT, she was weak, stumbling, and in critical condition. During her exam with Dr. Garcia, our team discovered a severe flea infestation and dangerously pale gums. Bloodwork confirmed life-threatening flea anemia, and she needed an emergency blood transfusion to have a chance at survival.

Dr. Southerland, who took over her care after the blood transfusion, shared this sweet photo of Kitten after her four-hour transfusion. Freshly bathed and enjoying some snuggles!

The second sweetie pictured in this post (fluffy black cat) is the amazing hero of this story, Winifred James! Winifred James is an EPCT employee pet who donated blood and helped save Kitten Hitchcock's life. We're so grateful for donor cats like Winifred James who make second chances possible.
