Congratulations to Pip the 9 month old pug and the newest graduate of Defender K9’s obedience Board and Train Program! Pip was an absolute pleasure to work with and the amount of energy this girl had was off the charts!!! ❤️🐾🦴.

Bugsy saw the eye specialist today.

He is completely blind and has 5 different genetic issues just in his eyes.
I’m sorry I don’t remember all the names of what is going on. I don’t have the report yet.
His pupils are very low in his eyes
The right pupil doesn’t move at all
He has cataracts
There is one small area on the left side that had a small response to light.
There is no fixing these problems.

The big question we are faced with is does Bugsy have a good quality of life.
3 different vets have said No.
I watch him circle all day in his pen, I see the fear of hearing other dogs, he cowers when you approach him, he freezes when you leash him.
We have not made any progress engaging with him. The spinning in circles has become his normal.

This post is to see if there is anyone out there that has a quiet home, no other pets that might want to try and work with him. This is the only other option we have.

The rescue is too over stimulating for him.

Harley the black GSD and Max the Pug mix got here yesterday for a board! Max stays frequently on camping weekends and Harley was a previous board and train and it is ALWAYS a pleasure when she comes to stay!

Meet Kai! He is an almost - not quite - 1 year old Mal that is with Defender K9 for some obedience and a few other tricks. Kai got here yesterday and has warmed up to me splendidly! We will start his formal training tomorrow! Kai will be here the month of June and I expect big results from him!!! ❤️🐾

Congratulations to Duke the 2 year old German Shepherd Dog for graduating a 6 week severe separation anxiety and obedience course at Defender K9! Duke was an absolute pleasure and he is adjusting back to life with his family!!! ❤️🐾❤️🐾 Duke is well on his way to his best life ever!!!

Congrats to Toaster and Harley for completing the 8 week Beginners Class at Bentley's Pawsome Resort this past Wednesday. Both pups are will on their way to being good citizens 🐾❤️.Christy Snook

Memorial Day weekend means barbecues—and barbecues mean accessible food. Remember not to give cooked bones to your dog!

Cooked bones splinter. They become brittle and break into sharp pieces that can perforate the GI tract, cause a blockage, and result in emergency surgery.

Have a safe weekend, eat good food, spend time with family, and stay out of the vet's office!

P.S. Also, keep an eye and a leash on your dog so they can't steal your neighbor's rack of ribs! 😜
