Tod and Chaos were having fun today running Boat Ops from a lake in Indiana with Conifer Canine Dog College. This was the first time Chaos got to deploy from a boat into water for the bite. They were able to do a send away when they got to shore also. Tod is taking his Police K9 cert with Chaos the Mal for the next 6 weeks! ❤️🐾 Proud of my boys!!

Defender K9 welcomes two brand new boarders this week… Bruno the 7 yr old shepherd mix and Mars the 2 year old border collie!
These two soft hearts are a pleasure to have!!! ❤️❤️

Welcome Kyra the 5 month old Husky “AKA Little Red Fox”!! Kyra is here at Defender K9 for a 2 week Board and Train for basic obedience, confidence, and general manners including impulse control! So excited to work with this little one 🐾🦴❤️

Several boarders over the holiday weekend/week here at Defender K9! Black Jach GSD, Zoey Beagle/Cattle dog mix, Bane GSD/Berense Moutian Dog Mix, and a new client - Luna the Lab/Pittie mix!!! What a bunch of awesome dogs!!! Have a great week!!!

Congratulations to Pip the 9 month old pug and the newest graduate of Defender K9’s obedience Board and Train Program! Pip was an absolute pleasure to work with and the amount of energy this girl had was off the charts!!! ❤️🐾🦴.

Bugsy saw the eye specialist today.

He is completely blind and has 5 different genetic issues just in his eyes.
I’m sorry I don’t remember all the names of what is going on. I don’t have the report yet.
His pupils are very low in his eyes
The right pupil doesn’t move at all
He has cataracts
There is one small area on the left side that had a small response to light.
There is no fixing these problems.

The big question we are faced with is does Bugsy have a good quality of life.
3 different vets have said No.
I watch him circle all day in his pen, I see the fear of hearing other dogs, he cowers when you approach him, he freezes when you leash him.
We have not made any progress engaging with him. The spinning in circles has become his normal.

This post is to see if there is anyone out there that has a quiet home, no other pets that might want to try and work with him. This is the only other option we have.

The rescue is too over stimulating for him.

Harley the black GSD and Max the Pug mix got here yesterday for a board! Max stays frequently on camping weekends and Harley was a previous board and train and it is ALWAYS a pleasure when she comes to stay!
