🎉🧡An Incredible Milestone! 🧡🎉

Today we’re celebrating Diana Hessman for reaching 12,000 volunteer hours with Pasco County Animal Services!

If you wanted to catch up to Diana's 12,000 hours of service, you'd have to volunteer 24 hours a day for FIVE HUNDRED days straight! Whew! That's a lot of life saving dedication!

Diana has built a true legacy here at PCAS. She has taken hundreds of new volunteers under her wing - training them, offering guidance, and a little "tough love, Diana style." (IYKYK 😉) There is never a question when it comes to where her passion lies... it is definitely for the animals. In addition to countless hours she gives to our shelter, Diana also serves on the board of directors of our supportive non-profit organization, Friends of Animal Services, Inc.

From walking dogs and comforting scared pets, to supporting our staff and fellow volunteers, your dedication has changed countless lives.

PCAS is committed to ensuring that every pet in our community has access to essential preventive care—regardless of a family’s financial situation.

Our next FREE offsite vaccine & microchip clinic happens this Tuesday morning!

💉Vaccines offered: Core Combo DHPP (dogs) FVRCP (cats), & Rabies

First come, first served.
Limited to the first 100 owned dogs & cats, 3 pets per household, please.

If receiving a rabies vaccination and your county license is expired, you will have 30 days to register or renew online. No money will be collected on site at event.

🎂Happy Birthday, babies.

Did you know that today, the first day of August, is also called DOGust 1st? It was created to give a shared birthday to rescue dogs whose exact birth dates are unknown.

Most dogs arrive at shelters as strays with a completely unknown past. DOGust 1st gives us this day to celebrate these special souls together.

🔴Join us on Saturdays at Petsmart Trinity for offsite dog adoptions!

PCAS is proud to announce our partnership with Petsmart Trinity and Petsmart Charities to bring you in-store dog adoptions every Saturday from 10am - 2pm.

Stop by and meet your new best friend, come in for freebies from Petsmart, or just swing through for info! For each dog adopted, Petsmart will also make a donation to help our shelter pets.

Pasco County Animal Services is partnering with Cathy Bissell and BISSELL Pet Foundation to save lives! We've spayed/neutered 30 pets today through their Fix the Future® program.

BISSELL Pet Foundation is breaking barriers to affordable and accessible spay/neuter by sending veterinarians to shelters and communities in need.

With this being the busiest season for rescue, initiatives like this help us ensure that more shelter pets receive spay/neuter surgery in order to go to their forever homes.

❤️AMELIA MADE IT TO NEW YORK SAFELY!!!

Amelia started the journey from Pasco County Animal Services to her new awaiting home in Brooklyn, New York on Wednesday morning. She arrived yesterday afternoon. (Special thanks to her transporter, Craig, for taking such wonderful care of Amelia on the road 🙏)

Amelia arrived at our shelter over 6 months ago. Adam from Stronger Shot Adoption Photos gave her a glowup photo shoot and created a video showcasing the highlights.

Somewhere in those 300,000 views was a man from Brooklyn who fell in love with her spirit. She now has a new home!💚

The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County has officially released a Rabies Advisory for our county. While this certainly is a concern, there is no need for panic.

⚠️Pasco County Animal Services wants to keep you safe and informed through education and awareness.

❓How is rabies transmitted❓ Pasco County Animal Services and The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County want you to know that you can get rabies by coming into direct contact with an infected animal.

‼️Tips on keeping pets safe during the advisory:
🟢Limit the amount of time pets spend outdoors. Keep cats indoors if possible.
🟢Monitor pets while they are outside. Leash pets while out on a walk or potty break.
🟢Feed outdoor pets responsibly. Limit the amount of time that food sits out, and remove uneaten food - especially in the evening.

✅The best way to prevent rabies:
❗️GET YOUR PETS VACCINATED, and make sure to keep records up to date.
❗️DO NOT pet/approach wildlife. Remember: wildlife is best observed from afar.
❗️Witness an injured animal? Reach out to the appropriate authorities.
