Meet Renegade. Renegade (A042665) came to PCAS when his owner passed away.

Renegade is a gentle boy who deserves a new journey outside of the shelter, where he can enjoy his sunset years being loved & getting couch snuggles. He's 10 years old and weighs around 72 pounds.

Renegade is a beautiful balance between being a sweet, calm gentle senior and a social guy who enjoys playing with other pups in playgroup.

🐾How Our Summer Camp Kids Changed Gweta's Life Forever❤️

During our Pasco County Youth Academy Summer Camp, the children participated in hand-drawing kennel cards for some of their favorite dogs with whom they connected with.

🤍Camper Aurora chose Gweta, a sweet White German Shepherd mix, for her kennel card project. Gweta came to us as a confiscation from a home where she was not being properly cared for. Aurora noted Gweta's kind nature, and she hoped that someone would take a chance on this pup who is shy, fearful, and tested positive for heartworm disease.

At our Summer Bash over the weekend, a young woman came to meet our pups hoping to find the perfect match. She had a few dogs in mind to meet... until she was stopped in her tracks by a drawing hanging on Gweta's kennel door.

Touched by the beautiful picture & innocent heartfelt message, she knew that she had found the one. Gweta's days of waiting in a kennel ended that very day, and she went home with a wonderful adopter.

When we launched our first-ever Shelter Summer Camp, we hoped that it would create positive ripple effects in the lives of these children. Little did we know the impression that they would leave on US. We are inspired by them and are grateful for the impact they make on the lives of shelter pets, even after the week was through.

🧈Meet Butterscotch! (aka Butters) She is currently being fostered by our friends at Embassy Pet Retreat!

Butters was experiencing kennel stress here at the shelter. She was also growing nervous of meeting new people. Our Foster Coordinator, Lynn, recognized that this sweet girl needed someone to believe in her and reached out to Stormy from Embassy.

Butterscotch has been in foster care for several weeks now, and she is making great improvements! Butters plays & socializes with other dogs at Embassy. Stormy is also helping build Butters' confidence by slowly introducing her to experiences like shopping at Lowes and attending adoption events.

Butterscotch is a 2yo spayed Catahoula weighing around 35lbs. She is a cheerful girl who is looking for a home where she can continue to build her self confidence. If you'd like to meet Butterscotch, please message us & we will set it up!

🎓PCAS is proud to conclude our inaugural Pasco County Youth Animal Academy Summer Camp. On Friday, we celebrated with a special graduation ceremony - parents and staff alike cheered on this history-making group of Next-Gen Animal Advocates.

🐕Throughout the week, 25 young participants, as young as 4 years old, immersed themselves in every aspect of the sheltering world—from animal care and animal control to veterinary services and hands-on learning activities.

🐈Campers practiced safe animal handling, observed a surgical procedure, explored how X-rays help diagnose medical needs, created kennel cards to support adoptions, helped clean kennels, made treats, spent time interacting with our shelter pets, and so much more.

Each experience was designed to teach responsibility, compassion, and the importance of quality animal care.

As the first program of its kind offered by a municipal shelter, we are especially proud to have made this camp accessible at a low cost so families of all backgrounds could participate. Our goal was to inspire our youth and provide a meaningful look into what it truly means to care for and protect animals.

Thank you to our campers, their families, and our dedicated staff for making this groundbreaking week such a success. PCAS remains committed to being both a safe haven for animals and a welcoming resource for our community.

Our first clinic takes place Tuesday Morning June 9th in Hudson:

Vaccinations remain the most fundamental defense against highly contagious and often fatal—but entirely preventable—viral diseases. Core vaccines protect pets from threats such as rabies, distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus, and other dangerous illnesses that continue to circulate in Florida.

Microchipping is one of the most effective tools for reuniting lost pets with their families. A microchip provides permanent, scannable proof of ownership, helping to return pets home quickly and safely. A microchip also provides owners with legal protection by establishing clear, verifiable ownership.

🚒🔥 Very special thanks go to the men and women of Pasco County Fire Rescue, Ladder & Rescue 37, for teaming up with us to bring families a Touch-A-Truck experience!

💚We are also incredibly grateful to Publix Supermarkets - Sunlake #1219 for generously donating hot dogs, snacks, sweets, and refreshments for our event.

🐾🌱 Day 5 & Graduation Day of the Pasco County Youth Animal Academy! 🌱🐾

Today, our campers learned something truly special: an animal shelter is more than a place for pets—it’s a community center.

Throughout the day, our young advocates helped make the shelter even more welcoming by planting seeds, creating garden stepping stones, and decorating our sidewalk pathways with colorful messages and artwork. Their creativity and kindness left a lasting mark on our campus and served as a beautiful reminder that this shelter belongs to all of us.

By caring for this space, our campers learned that every community member has a role to play in creating a compassionate, welcoming place for both people and animals.

What a meaningful way to conclude an unforgettable week of learning, advocacy, and service. ❤️

PCAS is proud to announce our partnership with Petsmart Trinity and Petsmart Charities to bring you in-store dog adoptions every Saturday from 10am - 2pm.

Stop by and meet your new best friend, come in for freebies from Petsmart, or just swing through for info! For each dog adopted, Petsmart will also make a donation to help our shelter pets.
