🐱 Cats are experts at hiding pain—but their body language often tells the real story.

A tucked posture, flattened ears, squinted eyes, or a tense expression can all be subtle clues that something isn't right. Learning to recognize these signs, along with the Feline Grimace Scale, can help you identify discomfort sooner and get your cat the care they need.

When in doubt, trust your instincts and give us a call. Early intervention can make all the difference. 💙

🌎🐾 “The greatest earthbender in the world”… is now searching for the greatest forever home! 🐾🌎

Meet Toph! 💚

Named after the legendary Toph Beifong from Avatar: The Last Airbender, our little Toph may not be able to earthbend, but she is fearless, adventurous, confident, and has a personality much bigger than her tiny paws. Just like her namesake, she’s brave, determined, and impossible not to love!

Toph is an approximately 7-week-old female Domestic Shorthair kitten who is ready to find her forever family. She loves to play, explore, wrestle with toys, and then curl up for snuggles when she’s all worn out. She’s the perfect combination of sweet, cuddly, and endlessly entertaining.

✨ Her $150 adoption fee includes:
🐱 Age-appropriate vaccinations
🩸 Pre-operative bloodwork
💕 Spay surgery
📍 Microchip
🛡️ 3 months of NexGard® COMBO for protection against fleas, ticks, heartworms, and intestinal parasites

When you adopt Toph, you’re not only giving an amazing kitten a loving home—you’re also giving her a healthy start with all of her essential veterinary care already covered.

💚 Ready to let Toph bend her way into your heart?

📞 Contact Land O’ Lakes Animal Hospital to submit an adoption application and schedule a meet-and-greet!

📣 Please LIKE, COMMENT, and SHARE to help Toph find her forever family. The more people who see her, the better her chances of finding the perfect home!

“I am the greatest earthbender in the world!” — We think Toph would say she’s also going to be the greatest kitten in the world. 🐈💚

🚗🐾 Every trip is safer when your pet is protected!

Whether you're running errands or heading out on a road trip, a few simple precautions can make all the difference.

✔️ Use a secured carrier or crash-tested harness to help reduce the risk of injury during sudden stops or accidents.
✔️ Keep pets in the back seat whenever possible. Airbags that protect people can be dangerous for pets.
✔️ Never leave your pet alone in a parked car. Even on mild days, the temperature inside a vehicle can rise quickly and become life-threatening.
✔️ Keep heads and paws inside the vehicle. While it may look fun, flying debris and sudden movements can lead to serious eye and facial injuries.

Safe travels start with safe habits. ❤️🐶🐱

🐶🐱 August is Itchy Pet Awareness Month! 🐱🐶

Did you know that many pets with allergies don't just "scratch a little"? Chronic itching can have a major impact on your pet's quality of life, making it difficult to relax, sleep comfortably, play, or simply enjoy being a dog or cat. Left untreated, itching often leads to skin infections, ear infections, hair loss, and chronic inflammation that can become increasingly difficult to manage.

Signs your pet may be itchy include:
🐾 Constant scratching
🐾 Licking or chewing at their paws
🐾 Rubbing their face on the carpet or furniture
🐾 Frequent head shaking or recurrent ear infections
🐾 Excessive licking of the belly, legs, or groin
🐾 Red, irritated skin or hair loss
🐾 Scooting or chewing around the tail base

If you've noticed any of these signs, allergies may be the cause—and we're here to help!

✨ Throughout August, choose ONE:
💊 25% OFF a 30-day supply of Apoquel®
OR
💉 25% OFF a Cytopoint® injection

Both Apoquel® and Cytopoint® are designed to target allergic itch, helping pets feel comfortable again while reducing the cycle of scratching, skin damage, and secondary infections.

📅 Offer valid August 1–31, 2026.

📞 Call us, book online through our website, or schedule through the PetDesk app to see if your pet is a candidate!

Promotion is available for pets with a current veterinary recommendation. Some pets may require a veterinary examination before treatment. Offer cannot be combined with other discounts or promotions. See hospital for complete details.

❤️ A comfortable pet is a happier pet. Let's make August a little less itchy!

Whether your companion is a rescue, a shelter favorite, or a lovable "best guess" mix, keeping up with wellness exams, vaccines, dental care, and year-round parasite prevention helps them live their happiest, healthiest life.

Tell us in the comments: What's your dog's breed mix? Or your best guess? 🐶💕

A little reminder that age is not a disease. ❤️

This sweet 14-year-old Basset Hound came to us with a very large mass on his hind leg that was affecting his comfort and mobility. After careful planning and surgery, we were able to successfully remove the mass—and we’re thrilled to say he’s recovering beautifully and doing great! 🐾

Many pet owners assume that lumps and bumps are “just old age,” but that’s not always the case. While not every mass is cancerous, every new or growing mass deserves to be evaluated by your veterinarian. Early detection often gives us more treatment options, allows for smaller surgeries, and can significantly improve both quality of life and long-term outcomes.

If you’ve noticed a lump on your pet, don’t wait for it to become a problem. The sooner we examine it, the better.

Here’s to many more happy, comfortable days for this handsome senior! 💙
