👂🐶 Why Are Ear Infections So Common in Dogs?
If your dog has been scratching at their ears, shaking their head, or you’ve noticed an unpleasant odor, it could be more than just an itch—it may be an ear infection.
Some dogs are especially prone to ear infections because of:
🐾 Floppy ears that trap moisture and reduce airflow
🏊 Swimming or frequent baths that leave moisture behind
🌿 Environmental or food allergies
🐕 Hair growing inside the ear canal
Signs your dog may have an ear infection include:
🔹 Frequent head shaking
🔹 Scratching at the ears
🔹 Redness or swelling
🔹 A bad smell coming from the ears
🔹 Dark or yellow discharge
🔹 Pain or sensitivity when the ears are touched
The good news? Most ear infections respond well to treatment when caught early. Left untreated, however, they can become painful and may lead to more serious problems.

🐱💉 Could Your Cat Be at Risk for Feline Leukemia?
Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) is one of the most serious infectious diseases in cats. It attacks the immune system and can lead to cancer, chronic infections, anemia, and a shortened lifespan. Unfortunately, there is no cure—which makes prevention so important.
FeLV spreads through close contact between cats, including:
🐾 Grooming one another
🥣 Sharing food and water bowls
😺 Bite wounds
💕 From mother cats to their kittens
The FeLV vaccine is recommended for cats that:
✅ Spend time outdoors
✅ Live with an FeLV-positive cat
✅ Live in multi-cat homes, shelters, or foster environments
✅ May come into contact with cats of unknown health or vaccination status
For cats that are strictly indoors with no exposure to other cats (and have tested negative for FeLV), this vaccine may not be necessary. Every cat's lifestyle is different, which is why vaccine recommendations should be tailored to each individual pet.
