REMINDER!!
With temperatures dropping, it’s important to remember that if it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for your pets. Here are a few quick tips to keep them safe this winter:

🏠 Bring Them Inside: Limit outdoor time and ensure they have a warm, draft-free place to sleep.
🐾 Check Their Paws: Salt and de-icing chemicals can irritate paws. Use a damp cloth to wipe them down after walks.
🚗 Check Your Car: Outdoor cats often seek warmth under car hoods. Tap your hood or honk the horn before starting your engine!

Keep Your Furry Friends Safe and Warm! 🐾❄️

It's Pet Diabetes Month. Diabetes mellitus, or diabetes, is a common, treatable condition in both people and certain pets that occurs when the body can’t use glucose (a type of sugar) normally.

Diabetes in dogs and cats may occur at any age. However, diabetic dogs are usually 4 to 14 years old, and most are diagnosed at roughly 7 to 10 years old. Most diabetic cats are older than 6 years. Diabetes occurs in female dogs twice as often as male dogs, and certain breeds of dogs and cats may be predisposed to the condition.

Fortunately, diabetic dogs and cats can live long, comfortable lives with appropriate treatment and monitoring. It all starts with a visit to your veterinarian, and a commitment from you to take a few extra steps in caring for your pet.

Please ensure to keep your pets updated on their rabies vaccinations. Rabies, while rare, is still present and is almost 100% fatal.

Community Notice: Feral Cat Tests Positive for Rabies in NE Harris County. ‼️🐾

Harris County Public Health is urging residents in the Greensbrook Place area to take precautions after a feral cat tested positive for rabies (confirmed Sept. 10). If you were in the area Sept. 1–10 and had contact with wildlife, call (281) 999-3191.

While the public risk is low, it's important to:
✅ Keep pets up to date on rabies vaccinations
🚫 Avoid contact with stray or wild animals
📞 Report animal bites, scratches, or odd animal behavior

Let’s work together to protect our families, pets, and neighborhoods.
