Saving Sight Saturday:
Thor is a 7-year-old domestic shorthair cat that presented with a mass on the upper eyelid of the right eye, which had been present for about six weeks. Upon ophthalmic examination, Thor was found to be normally visual and comfortable. The upper eyelid of the right eye exhibited two masses that resembled papilloma-like tumors, located in the center of the lid just behind the eyelid margin. The rest of the examination was normal for both eyes. The owner’s decided to proceed with surgery for mass removal. An incision was made parallel to the eyelid margin and between the margin and the base of the eyelid mass. The mass was bluntly dissected from the underlying lid tissue and excised (for histopathology). Two rapid freeze-thaw cycles of cryotherapy were applied over the area of tumor removal. Thor is now completely healed and is thriving at home!!
