This week we are celebrating our amazing Veterinary Technicians and the amazing work they do each and every day for Vet Tech Appreciation Week! 🩺💉🐾

Working in a shelter comes with unique challenges, long days, and many tough medical cases on a daily basis. From staying late to give snuggles to puppies recovering from parvo, to giving every scared dog, cat, or critter the patience and care they need in their first moments during their intake exam, to treating every scratch or upset stomach a pet may get along the way until they find their fur-ever homes, our compassionate Vet Techs are always showing up for our pets in need to provide medical care, comfort, compassion, and a second chance. Their work isn't always easy, and so much of what this team does is behind the scenes, but the impact of the genuine love and kindness these technicians pour into each pet that walks through our doors is immeasurable.

To our remarkable Medical Team, thank you for your unwavering commitment to our animals, your resilience, your big hearts, and for showing up every day with a smile on your face and genuine love for this line of work. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are so grateful for everything you do for High Country Humane and the pets and people in our community! ❤️

A huge thank you to our incredible community supporters! 🐾

These amazing folks have been hosting a booth at local craft fairs, selling handmade goodies (corn cuddlers & more) and vintage finds, with proceeds benefiting the pets in our care. They even whipped up peanut butter & banana dog biscuits for a recent craft fair, and they were a big hit! 🦴

Thanks to their hard work and the generosity of their customers, they’ve raised approximately $2k for High Country Humane this year! 😱
And they’re not done yet...catch them at their final big event of the season at the Elks on November 15th. 🐾

Please join us in giving these wonderful women a big round of applause! 👏 Thank you for being part of our lifesaving community!

We are heartbroken for Harley 💔 A few days ago he had an adopter that was SO excited about him! Unfortunately, he was brought back only a few hours later due to a roommate having severe allergies. 😢 No one's fault - but that means Harley is back in a kennel.

Quick notes:
Harley LOVES humans and is so affectionate with his people. He truly gives you his whole heart. 🫶 He's about 1.5 years old, weighs 60lbs, and is a staff & volunteer FAVE. He's strong and needs someone who will continue to work on his training. But he loves his treats & toys. He already knows 'sit' and loves sniff enrichment too. Harley needs to be your only pet, but will give you all the love you could ever need.🥹

Meet Benny: Professional Cuddle Bug & Adventure Buddy! 🐾

This handsome boy is looking for a forever home where he can soak up ALL the love! 🏡 Benny’s love language is 100% physical touch. 💙 He thinks he’s a lap dog, believes pets should be available 24/7, and would happily be your shadow all day long. Want a snuggle buddy who’s also up for life’s adventures? Benny is the guy for you!🙏

A little more about Benny:
-Almost 4 years old and 60lbs
-Can get along with some dogs in a structured setting and would love to meet potential canine siblings first. He’s also perfectly happy being your one and only!
-An energetic guy who’s ready to explore the world with you!

Benny is HIGHLY food motivated, which makes training a fun and rewarding experience. He’s a fast learner who’s eager to please his humans and is currently working on his 'sit,' 'come,' 'place,' 'stay', and 'down' commands, along with crate and muzzle training.

Puzzle toys, Nylabones, and frozen Kongs are some of his favorite ways to put that brilliant brain to work! This boy needs a home that will give him opportunities to exercise BOTH his body and his mind. 🦴🧠

At the end of the day, Benny's biggest wish is simple: someone to love him, include him in their adventures, and give him all the affection his big heart can handle.

Get your ghouls and furry goblins ready for a spook-tacular afternoon! 👻 Hosted by our friends at Freaky Foot Tours, Howl-O-Ween is Flagstaff’s annual pet block party, parade, and costume contest benefiting High Country Humane! ❤️

Adopt Krueger!!! The cutest little sidekick 🐾

Here’s what his fosters have to say about him:
“Krueger is an incredibly loving and loyal companion. He is a true shadow who loves nothing more than following us everywhere and curling up on a lap for a good nap.

Krueger gets along with our cats and has been wonderfully friendly with every dog he has met.

Krueger bonds so deeply with his humans, he does get anxious when left alone. We think he will thrive in a home where his family is around most of the day.”

ADOPTER OR FOSTER TAKEOVER NEEDED FOR CODY! 🐾 Can you help this sweet boy?

Cody was adopted from our shelter back in 2020 as a young pup. He spent SIX YEARS with his family when suddenly his owner had medical issues and no one else in the family could take him. His life was turned upside-down when he found himself back at the shelter. 💔

Cody REALLY struggled here in the shelter. And can you blame him? He spent six years in a loving, quiet home! Thankfully, our amazing staff supported him until he found a patient foster home. They have now had him for 3 weeks and helped him tremendously. Now, he needs some new, cat-free, digs! Can you foster Cody?

Additional info:
-Crate Trained
-Potty trained
-Quiet, with moderate energy
-Leash trained & non-reactive to bikers, runners, kids, dogs, etc.
-Very smart & listens very well. Already knows 'sit,' 'come here,' and is learning 'lay down.'
-Really sweet boy and an amazing dog!
