I hate to do it, but I’m going to have raise my mileage fee until these gas prices come back down. I’m dying over here…

We are so grateful for the generous donation from Bob and Diane we received yesterday that will help fund our next team.
In the last year, we have trained and donated 4 service dogs.
If you would like to donate to US HONOR DOGS, we can accept checks, cash and Venmo.
If you know someone who has served, who has a physical disability, please have them contact us. We love helping improve the lives of those who have given so much!

Dogs like Ellie that act aggressive are almost ALWAYS in a state of over stimulation.
They have an excitement threshold- and once that limit has been surpassed they are no longer hearing, thinking or processing. They are just reacting. And that reaction can be a bite.
The term “auditory exclusion” is when the brain is only operating on the senses that are being excited.
I use the game Red Light/Green Light to amp up a dog into a frenzy of sound and animation-
And then drop my energy and freeze- to teach the dog to mimic my levels- read the room- to HEAR and SEE and REGULATE themselves.
This takes practice for the dog and for the handler to learn- if you try to tug the toy away- you’re still playing.
If you shout or get tense- you’re still playing. And YOU are reacting.
Tug is NOT a bad game for aggressive dogs as we’ve been told. It is a great way to establish boundaries and rules of engagement.
