Let’s be honest... who wouldn’t want a dog named Happy?
And here’s the part we just don’t understand: why is nobody choosing him?
Happy is a 3-year-old, 60-pound Mountain Cur mix, and he truly is the full package. He’s handsome, athletic, affectionate, smart, playful, loyal, and has a wonderful off-switch when the fun is over.
Happy is the kind of dog who is ready when you are.
Want to go for a long walk? He’s in.
Planning a hike? Grab his leash.
Want to throw a ball around the yard? He’s already waiting.
Ready to binge-watch TV afterward? Perfect. Happy is an expert at relaxing, too.
He’s fully housebroken, walks nicely on leash, and knows sit, stay, come, leave it, and down/off. He’s smart, food motivated, and eager to keep learning.
And then there’s the part of Happy’s story that makes us especially proud.
He has come SO far.
When Happy first arrived from the shelter, he needed time to discover that people could be trusted, that life could be fun, and that he was finally safe. Today, he’s a much more confident dog who is ready to experience life with his own family.
Recently, Happy even went on a little vacation and stayed with another foster family. Different house? No problem. New people? Bring them on. New dog buddy? Even better!
He settled right in, got along with everyone, and had an absolute blast playing with his buddy Rex in the yard. He showed everyone just how adaptable, easygoing, and fun this guy can be.
Happy currently lives with two other dogs and enjoys canine companionship. A playful dog who wants to run, wrestle, and have fun would be a great match, but Happy could also happily be your one-and-only best friend. He does think squirrels and rabbits are highly suspicious, though, so a cat-free home would suit him best.
And when the day winds down, Happy is happy to just be with his people. He’ll nap while you work, hang out nearby while you relax, or stretch out beside you for a night of TV.
He doesn’t need a fancy life.
He just wants his people.
Someone to take him on adventures. Someone to toss the ball. Someone to scratch his ears. Someone to laugh at his goofy antics. Someone to tell him he’s a good boy and mean it.
After everything he’s been through, Happy has done his part. He’s worked on his confidence. He’s learned. He’s grown. He’s shown us what a wonderful dog he is.
Now he just needs someone to choose him.
Because honestly... we can’t figure out why that hasn’t happened yet.
Happy isn’t looking for perfection. He’s looking for a person or family who will see what we see: a really special dog who has so much love and life left to give.
Maybe you’re the person he’s been waiting for.
If your idea of the perfect dog is part adventure buddy, part comedian, part couch companion, and 100% loyal best friend, Happy would really like to meet you.
