🐾 Say hello to our new veterinary technician, Kat! 👋🏼

Kat has been in the pet care industry for six years and has worked as a veterinary technician for the past four. She brings experience in general practice, emergency and specialty medicine, as well as daycare and boarding facility management.

When she’s not caring for patients, Kat enjoys walks around the park and swimming with her Great Dane–Pit Bull mix, Wednesday. Her goal is to one day become a Certified Veterinary Technician. 🏞️🏊‍♀️

We’re excited to have Kat on our team and can’t wait for you and your pets to meet her! 💜

🐱💨 Feline Asthma 💨🐱

Did you know cats can have asthma too?
Feline asthma is a common lung condition that causes inflammation and narrowing of the airways, making it difficult for cats to breathe.
Signs to watch for:
▫️ Coughing or hacking
▫️ Wheezing
▫️ Rapid or labored breathing
▫️ Open-mouth breathing
▫️ Low energy or lethargy
▫️ Crouching with the neck extended

Common triggers may include:
🌿 Pollen
🚬 Cigarette smoke
🧹 Dust & dust mites
🌫️ Mold or mildew
🐾 Dusty cat litter

🩺 Diagnostics for asthma may include but not limited to:
▫️ Chest radiographs (x-rays)
▫️ Bloodwork
▫️ Additional testing to rule out other causes of breathing changes.

While there is no cure, asthma can often be managed successfully with medication, weight management, and reducing exposure to triggers.

🚨 If your cat is struggling to breathe, breathing with an open mouth, or has pale/blue gums, seek veterinary care immediately.
