Well, we thought Milo Lancaster was a Boston terrier mix and that's what the shelter thought also. But we did a DNA test on him and turns out he is an American Staffordshire and American pittie mix. He only weighs 44 lb and is 3 years old. He is black & white with some brindle. He is high energy and has lots of love.
Comments from his trainer: 🐕🦺
Milo rode extremely well in the car and was calm and comfortable during the ride. Once we arrived at the property, he was confident, excited, and ready to explore. He walks very nicely on a leash and was easy to handle throughout the entire walk. He enjoyed checking out his surroundings and even confidently explored the watering hole and went into the water.
Milo knows sit and is very eager to please. He is attentive to his handler and appears very willing to learn, which should make continued training enjoyable and rewarding.
We also introduced Milo to cats. He showed absolutely no reaction or interest in them, even when given the opportunity to observe them closely. Based on his behavior during the evaluation, we feel he could comfortably be placed in a home with cats. Milo is also fantastic with other dogs of various sizes. He enjoys interacting and playing with them and would do very well in a home with other dogs.
The biggest area where Milo will need patience and confidence building is living inside a home. As we approached and entered the house, Milo became increasingly uncomfortable. Normal household noises and unfamiliar indoor surroundings made him jumpy and visibly stressed.
Once Milo was placed in a crate, however, there was an immediate difference. He was very comfortable in the crate, settled easily, and remained quiet. He appears to be completely crate trained and views his crate as a safe and familiar space.
Overall, Milo has a tremendous amount of potential. He is confident outdoors, wonderful on leash, rides beautifully in the car, is eager to please, loves other dogs, and showed no concerning behavior toward cats. His ideal adopter will simply need to be willing to give him the time and patience he needs to adjust. With a patient person who allows him to build confidence at his own pace, Milo has all the qualities needed to become a wonderful family companion.
