Have you seen these pesky bugs flying around, attacking you every time you walk through a door, or blending in with your gravel drive? 🙄

These are Spotted Lanternflies (absolutely NO relation to our beloved lightning bugs ☺️). They are a species of planthoppers originating from countries in Eastern Asia who have made their way across the sea to the USA. These bugs feed on varieties of trees and crops with sap or stored starches (ex. grapevines, maple/oak/willow trees, hops, etc.), making them highly invasive and detrimental to our ecosystem.

Why is this an issue?
A) They're becoming crazily populated in the Eastern USA. Which brings us to...
B) They bring more pests (ants, wasps) which disrupt your local pollinators, disease (mold), and stress (from lack of photosynthesis due to the mold) onto your plants/trees/crops.
C) The more Spotted Lanternflies that exist, the worse the long-term impact will be on our ecosystem, further worsening the already crazy economic issues we have going on.

Moral of the story? SQUASH THESE SUCKERS before you pay just as much for a bag of apples as you do a pound of sirloin beef steak!!! 😰 That may be a little dramatic... But for these animal lovers at Valley View Pets Unleashed to be telling you to kill any living thing, the issue has to be quite the level of not-okay. Happy squashing! 🫡

📦 Our Storage Set-up and Policy 📦

At Valley View Pets, we encourage all new and returning clients to bring necessities and comfort items (favorite toy, dad's shirt, blanket, etc.). 🧸 Our new storage set-up allows our Kennel Attendants to have quicker and more efficient access to your pet's items! That being said, when it comes to food, please be mindful that while these tubs are tough, they are not tough enough for 44lb bags and cannot accommodate large food containers. We ask that food is stored in either:

-grocery bags, gallon bags, or individually portioned baggies per feeding
-shoebox to medium sized containers
-small chow bags

Additionally, we ask that clients specify how much their dogs eat at each meal, EVEN IF they graze throughout the day or "free feed". ✍🏼 You know how your dog eats best- and we don't want to be wasteful by giving too much food that your pup won't touch! For example:

"Feed 1 cup in the morning, if Spike eats all of his food by the afternoon, offer him another cup".

We typically feed at 8:30/9am every day, and 3pm/3:30 on weekdays (2:30 on weekends as we close earlier). Thank you to all our valued clients for your cooperation and understanding. We look forward to caring for your pets for years to come! 😄❤️
