Equine emergency care is specifically offered out of the Comer headquarters — and yes, depending on the case and vet availability, we can potentially schedule emergency care if you live outside this radius and are willing to bring your horse to us in an ER situation.

On a scale of 1️⃣ to 5️⃣, where one is for red mucous membranes and indicates a low parasite burden, and five is white to indicate a high parasite burden … where do y’all think Dr. Chamlee decided this sweetheart fell?! 😭

The FAMACHA system, that one-to-five scale, is an indicator veterinarians use to check small ruminants for signs they might need deworming. Internal parasites can be detrimental for goats and sheep, whether they’re beloved pets or production livestock. The CLS vets want to help all of our small ruminant owners stay on top of parasite control and animal health, which is why we’ve got our service special going on through June 30! There are only a couple weeks left to take advantage of this appointment, with a savings of up to $65 off your trip fee, so please don’t hesitate to give us a call to schedule.

Between vacations, regular off-days, conferences, the doctors falling ill, and speaking to ag classes … sometimes it winds up that only ONE CLS vet is operating out of the headquarters team!

Which means during the summer, things can get a little tight when there are three students, an onboarding veterinarian, your regular assistant, and an appointment schedule that means you also have to pack the chiro bale, the X-ray set-up, the equine dental float equipment, the small ruminant ultrasound, and all the regular supplies.

☎️ Recently, Georgia incorporated new regulations for veterinary clinics that allow new opportunities for telehealth appointments, also known as telemedicine, for existing patients. This can take place via a phone call or video call. The CLS vets wanted to share with y’all what this looks like for Custom Livestock Solutions clients:

1️⃣ When you call CLS to request veterinary care, our office team will take a brief note and share it with the vet team.
2️⃣ The appropriate vet who picks up this case will reach out individually to schedule and obtain full patient history.
3️⃣ After patient history is obtained, if you are already a CLS client with an established veterinary-client-patient relationship, your vet may offer the option to do an over-the-phone telehealth appointment instead of OR preemptively to scheduling a farm visit.
‼️ PLEASE NOTE: Telehealth appointments may require a follow-up farm visit. It is up to your CLS vet’s discretion whether or not a patient can be served via telemedicine-guided care or if they need to see a veterinarian in person, either at the time of the call or following guided care administration.
4️⃣ Telehealth appointments have a different fee schedule than farm visits! They will be charged as their own appointment by our office staff.
5️⃣ Telehealth appointment invoices may be paid over the phone, in-person at the Comer headquarters, via a text pay link, or via an email pay link. All invoices from CLS are subject to a 5 percent late fee if they are past due, and services — including future telehealth requests! — may not be available to clients who have past-due vet bills with us.
