Librela 💚 and Solensia 🩷 are monthly injections that reduce pain signals associated with osteoarthritis, making it easier for your pet to run, play, and enjoy a higher quality of life.

👉 To be eligible for this special, pets must have an up-to-date wellness exam at Comer Vet and have been approved by their veterinarian to receive osteoarthritis treatment. Free therapeutic laser treatments must be redeemed within 30 days of Librela or Solensia purchase in September. Laser treatment will be localized based on veterinarian recommendation. We’re less than a week away from Labor Day!! 🥳

Comer Veterinary Hospital will be CLOSED on Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of the holiday. That means y’all have a few days’ notice to call in prescription refills that are set to run out over the weekend as well as meds to help with firework anxiety! If you aren’t sure what your pet might need, please don’t hesitate to call the clinic to ask your vet.

🩺 Please note, your pet must be a current Comer Vet patient with an up-to-date VCPR (veterinary-client-patient relationship), meaning we must have seen your pet at least once in the last calendar year, in order to receive prescriptions!

Comer Vet practice manager and vet tech Jess got to spend a few days in Nashville at WVC, a veterinary conference full of hands-on skills labs, professional development, leadership, and continuing education experiences. 🦟 It’s World Mosquito Day, aka a great opportunity to remind y’all about monthly preventatives!

Mosquitoes transmit heartworms, which can develop into the fatal heartworm disease in dogs and (less commonly) cats. The easiest way to reduce the risk of your pet contracting this illness is by using a preventative! Comer Vet offers a variety of preventions that protect against heartworm. Equally important to note is that many heartworm preventatives are also combos that protect against fleas, ticks, and their associated diseases.

Often, fleas get overlooked as more of a nuisance than a health concern, but the reality is that like mosquitoes and ticks, they can cause far more than just itchy bites. Fleas can transmit internal parasites and microorganisms that cause disease, and severe flea infestations can result in extreme blood loss or even death. If you haven’t already, we highly recommend you speak with your vet about what prevention method(s) they suggest for your dogs and cats!

The good news: 7️⃣ spay and neuter appointments last week?! Y’all, that is awesome!

The less-good news: We have had several patients come in recently that were severely affected by blood loss from fleas. Please, pretty please with a 🍒 cherry on top, speak with your veterinarian about the appropriate flea preventatives for your pets! We offer a variety of options (check the comments for a blog on the subject!) and can get you set up ASAP to protect your animals.
