There is something so incredibly breathtaking about watching your children become your biggest cheerleaders. 💖🐴🥺

The little humans you’ve spent your life believing in suddenly start believing in YOU. And sometimes, on the days when you’re questioning yourself, they believe in you a whole lot more than you believe in yourself.

Today, my 9-year-old asked if he could download RideJoy from the App Store.

He knows he’s too young to use it. He doesn’t have a horse to travel with. He has absolutely no need for the app.

But he wanted to download it anyway.

I have ridden a LOT of horses in my life… but NOTHING could have prepared me for riding a STEER. 🐂🤎

We had the incredible opportunity to visit Diamond W Saddle Cattle in Palmerton, Pennsylvania, and I can honestly say this was one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life.

The entire experience lasts about 2–3 hours, and before you ever climb into the saddle, you get an incredible education on these magnificent animals. From their history and breeding to the patience, dedication, and training that goes into preparing them to be ridden.

And then… you saddle up!

What surprised me most wasn’t their size or even their strength. It was their intelligence.

These animals are incredibly thoughtful, clever, sensitive, and so unbelievably perceptive. I swear they can read you better than just about any horse I’ve ever met.

They’re gentle, kind, and surprisingly nurturing. But let me tell you… there’s a reason the term BULLHEADED exists. 😂

A Brahman will absolutely find every hole in your argument, and you’d better have a pretty convincing case for why they should do what you’re asking!

But perhaps the most remarkable part of the entire experience is feeling the sheer POWER beneath you.

These are enormous, immensely powerful creatures, and yet there is such an extraordinary sensitivity to them. Every movement feels deliberate. Every interaction feels like a conversation. You’re not simply sitting on an animal. You’re learning to communicate with one that is constantly thinking, observing, and making decisions of its own.

It’s humbling. It’s exhilarating. And it gives you an entirely new appreciation for just how remarkable these animals truly are.

This is one of those once-in-a-lifetime experiences that EVERY animal lover should have on their bucket list.

And the best part? You don’t have to travel across the country to do it!

I can still remember the electricity that coursed through my body every time we made that turn off Route 316.

My grandmother would swing wide beside the wooden sign that read Saddle Up Ministries, slowing the car as we made our way up the long, bumpy gravel driveway She did her best to navigate the dips and turns, carefully avoiding the rugged potholes that seemed determined to swallow our tires.

But me?

I could hardly sit still.

My heart would race the entire time there. But that final turn, the one that meant that we were almost at the barn, was almost unbearable.

Excitement. Anxiety. Anticipation. Adrenaline.
All of it coursing through my body so fiercly that I thought I might actually burst.

You see, it is difficult to explain what that barn meant to me at that particular moment in my life.
I was 16.

And I think that most of us can relate that being a 16 year old girl is no easy task.

But my world was particularly dark and isolated.
I grew up in a very strict and religious home. I wasn’t allowed to have friends, I wasn’t allowed to participate in school activities and I certainly wasn’t allowed to date (spoiler alert I snuck and did anyways 😝)

My entire existence was confined to three places: Church, School or Home.

My sibling was my best friend, my whole world, and one of the few bright spots in an otherwise terribly lonely chapter in my life.

And at home things weren’t exactly that great.
Money was so tight that a packet of instant ramen noodles felt like a warm gourmet meal.

We didn’t have much, and for a long time, I didn’t really know what it felt like to belong to anything, including my own family, as my family rejected me and my sibling since we were the only “dark” ones in the family.

But everything changed when we turned down that gravel driveway.

Pulling down that driveway meant that I got to be someone else for a few hours that day.

Not someone wealthy, or popular, or someone who has everything figured out... just someone who belonged.

I got to be a girl who rode horses.

A girl who was seen deeply for the first time.

I got to experience a kind of love and community that reached places in my heart that I knew were hurting, but didn’t have the words or the wisdom to understand why.

And perhaps most importantly, I was extended grace.
Grace for the complicated feelings I couldn’t explain.
Grace for the parts of my self I was still learning to listen to and understand.

Grace for all the things I didn’t yet have the words or the courage to say outloud.

The women at the barn didn’t know my story; they didn’t need to. They just made room for me.

Sometimes, being given a place to belong is enought to change the entire direction of someone’s life.

Here’s the part that gets me, even all these years later...

If I could somehow track down the woman who directed the program, she probably wouldn’t even know who I am.

I was probably one of the countless camp students who walked through her barn doors, one more teenager who needed a little kindness.

One more kid who couldn’t wait to climb into the saddle.

To her, it was an ordinary afternoon.

But to me, those afternoons were everything.

The lessons she taught me about generosity, belonging, compassion and making room for people have stayed with me all throughout my life.

Into adulthood, into motherhood, into entrepreneurship, and into RideJoy.

We rarely get to know the full impact of the kindness we give away.

We don’t always see the person we encouraged go on in their lives. We don’t always know that the smallest, most ordinary gesture might become one of the most important memories in someone else’s life.

And that’s what I wanted to share with you today... because maybe, just maybe you are someone else’s Saddle Up.

And maybe you think that what you do isn’t that special; to you it is just another Tuesday; just another person passing through your life.

But someone out there might be carrying the memory of your kindness with them for the rest of theirs.

So, if no one has told you lately, the work you’re doing, the spaces you’re creating, and the kindness you’re putting out into this world matter.

Far more than you will ever know.

Somewhere out there is a rider looking for a place just like yours.

One of the most incredible things about being part of the equine community is realizing just WHO we are surrounded by.

The dreamers. The doers. The risk-takers. The early risers and late-night hustlers. The people who get knocked down, dust themselves off, and get right back in the saddle.

Some of the most creative, resourceful, tough-as-nails, wildly determined entrepreneurs we’ve ever met are right here among us.

People who believe in their dreams enough to keep showing up for them. Even when the money is tight. Even when the plans fall apart. Even when the excitement fades and the work gets HARD.

And THAT is something worth celebrating.

Because here’s the thing about chasing a dream…
