On Wednesday May 27, there was a torrential downpour at 10:30 a.m. This resulted in flooding in Building A. Thanks to the quick actions of Ann Leist, and others present, the water was vacuumed and mopped. 55 tiles were removed and set aside to dry. Later, Cindy Shipe and Nick retrieved the barrel fans from the storage unit and placed them strategically to dry the tiles. Later, the evening crew moved the tiles again and set them up vertically to dry.

Sunday night Cindy Shipe, her daughter Brie, and 4 grandchildren arrived to help put the dry tiles back in place.

Thanks to everyone (although not specifically listed) who assisted with addressing this issue and remediating the situation.

I’m sad to report that former member Linda Roush has passed after an extended stay in a nursing home. Her husband Robert “Bob” predeceased her. He was also an active member. They shared their lives with many fine Shelties and were active in obedience, rally and agility. Linda choreographed an obedience routine that involved 30 or so folks and their dogs for a performance at Pet Expo. It was set to the theme from 101 Dalmatians movie “Cruella de Vil”.

God Speed Linda!

The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that former Vice-President Jim Lake has been selected as the newest Honorary Member for his contributions to the club during his multi-year term. In addition to having Building A painted inside and out, he coordinated the project to install brand new agility turf in Building B. This was in addition to all the normal maintenance and repairs necessary to keep the facility in good shape.

Jim joins a long line of members who have contributed to the success of our club. Congratulations Jim!

Columbus All Breed is blessed to have many talented members with special skills, talents and gifts.

Today we would like to highlight Don Monke’s special woodworking skills. When the obedience folks requested mirrors to use during classes, Don was hired to create, design and produce two mobile mirrors. Note the special touch of CATC on the top of the man panel.

These will be stored in the southwest utility room of Building A and be rolled out for obedience and conformation classes. They are not to be moved out of Building A. They should be stored with the mirrors facing inward. The material is a non-breakable acrylic.

Please thank Don the next time you see him at the club. Also thanks to Mary Marsh for spearheading this initiative.
