MEET GRUMBLES! 💚

If you’re looking for a bird who wants to be your little sidekick, Grumbles might be your guy!

Grumbles is a 9-year-old Quaker who is incredibly smart, cuddly, curious, and people-oriented. He loves being out with his humans and would happily spend his day flying to your hand, riding around on your shoulder, training, foraging, playing with toys, or helping with whatever you’re doing.

He’s an active little bird with a BIG personality, but he also has a seriously sweet side. Grumbles loves attention, scritches, and being close to his people. 🥹

Grumbles is also a special-needs bird. He is Avian Bornavirus positive (ABV+) and has a history of occasional seizures and gastrointestinal symptoms (none of which have happened in our care). He currently takes a daily oral medication (which he is trained to take) and will need an adopter who is comfortable working closely with an avian veterinarian and monitoring his health over the long term.

His medical needs don’t stop him from being an intelligent, active, affectionate little bird. He just needs the right home that understands the commitment that comes with loving him.

🏡 Grumbles’ ideal home:
• Plenty of daily out-of-cage time and interaction
• Opportunities for training, foraging, and enrichment
• Someone who loves a bird that wants to be involved in their day
• A family comfortable managing his medical needs and maintaining a relationship with an avian veterinarian
• A lower-stress environment where he can settle in and thrive

Grumbles has SO much personality packed into one little green bird, and we would love to find someone who sees everything he has to offer. 💚

Want to help us stock the freezer for OFFCR’s foster birds? 🦜

We’re looking for 5–10 people to join us for our next OFFCR Chop Party! Together, we’ll make a HUGE batch of fresh parrot chop to send home with our current foster birds and freeze for birds coming into the rescue.

What’s a Chop Party?

It’s basically meal prep — parrot rescue style! 🥕🥦🫑 Everyone brings ingredients from an assigned list, and we spend the afternoon washing, chopping, mixing, and bagging everything together.

Our goal is to make enough to stock OFFCR’s freezer, send multiple bags home with our foster birds, and have fresh food ready to go when a new bird enters the rescue.

And as a thank-you for helping, everyone who participates gets to take home a gallon bag of chop for their own birds! ❤️

You don’t have to be an OFFCR volunteer to join us! We’d love to have some new faces come help!!

We only have room for about 5–10 more people, so send us a DM if you’d like to attend! Once we have our group together, we’ll send out ingredient assignments and the rest of the details later this week!!
