Banjo's longest exploratory flight yet!!

One second he was overhead... the next he was nothing more than a tiny speck disappearing into the sky.

There's something nerve wracking about genuinely losing sight of your bird for a moment, then eventually seeing them reappear circling overhead like nothing even happened.

✨ Sammie & Darlin’ ✨

Sammie, a 36-year-old Green-Wing Macaw, and Darlin’, a 26-year-old Blue-and-Gold Macaw. They have spent nearly 25 years together and are incredibly bonded to one another. Wherever one goes, the other is never far behind.

Since arriving into foster care, they’ve already started settling into a healthier new routine — fresh chop, quality pellets, positive reinforcement training, and learning how to enjoy structure and interaction again after years without much consistency.

And honestly? Watching their personalities slowly come out has been amazing. Sammie has a huge presence and loves to keep an eye on everything happening around him, while Darlin’ brings a more wild energy and clearly finds comfort sticking close to her lifelong companion.

They will need a patient and understanding home committed to continuing their progress and respecting the bond they share. In return, you get the opportunity to work with two incredibly intelligent parrots who still have so much life, personality, and potential ahead of them.

We are still a very small foster-based rescue and free flight community, but we believe birds like Sammie and Darlin’ deserve to be seen, understood, and advocated for just as much as any dog or cat in rescue.

🩷🤍 WILLIE 🤍🩷

Our resident cuddlebug is looking for his main squeeze!

Willie is a 40 year old Goffin's Cockatoo currently being fostered in Columbus, Ohio. He found himself at Ohio Free Flight because his caretaker was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and the family had to make the difficult decision to rehome him. Willie has adapted so well to this big change in his life, and he is a friend to everyone he meets.

🫶 He loves snuggling up with his favorite person, getting scritches, and riding around on shoulders. Willie is a real sweetheart, and he can even mimic the sound of people laughing.

🦜 He gets along well with other birds and would do best with a family that is home most of the day so that he can get plenty of out of cage time. He loves to be wherever you are!

🪽 Willie is fully flighted, and is currently working on target training and indoor flight recall at his foster home. We would love to see him continue his flight progress in his forever home.

If you can train them to safely be outdoors give them the freedom to be birds!!

Not sure where to start?? Reach out!! Your bird will thank you and you will unlock a new level of bonding and trust like never before. Not all birds will be able to safely freefly, and they might not fly at all. But they all deserve the same opportunity of being outside soaking in the sunlight showered with love and enrichment ☺️
