Some cats survive by hiding.
Benjamin survived by loving.

When we found him, he was living in a warehouse after being dumped — thin to the point of being skeletal, but still weaving between workers’ legs, purring, begging to be picked up, begging for someone to notice him. Even in the middle of chaos, he chose people. He chose love.

Benjamin is a big, fluffy orange Maine C**n mix with the heart of a kitten and the courage of a lion. He’ll follow you from room to room, flop into your lap, rub his giant head against your chest, and purr like he’s been waiting his whole life for you to sit down. He’s goofy, cuddly, expressive, and absolutely convinced that humans were put on this earth to adore him.With a slow introduction and the right match, he can absolutely have feline friends. Dogs are unknown, but people? People are his whole world.

But Benjamin has one challenge standing between him and the forever home he deserves.

Benjamin has severe hyperthyroidism — and the only true cure is I‑131 radioactive iodine treatment.

He’s young — only 3–4 years old — but his thyroid is working overtime, burning through calories faster than he can eat them. Medication helps, but it’s not a cure. It only slows the disease while the thyroid continues to grow and overproduce. I-131 is the gold standard. It targets and destroys the overactive part of the thyroid and, in most cases, cures the disease permanently. No more pills twice a day. No more slow decline. No more fighting a losing battle.
Just a healthy, happy, adoptable cat with a long life ahead of him.
Benjamin is ready.
The only barrier is the cost: $1,900.

PetPromise’s biggest fundraiser of the year is coming up, and we’re about to fill 10,000 eggs for the Adult Flashlight Egg Scramble on March 28.

Some stories begin with loss.
But the best ones end with love.

Homer and Smithers were born under a deck to a feral mama who did everything she could to keep her babies safe. When she was TNR’d and released, a kind neighbor stepped in and brought her kittens to PetPromise at just five weeks old. From there, they grew up in a foster home—learning that hands can be gentle, toys are for pouncing, and people can be trusted.

Meanwhile, the Yoder family was quietly waiting.

In 2009, they adopted two feline siblings who became their first children—long before their human kids came along. Those beloved cats filled their home with more joy than they ever imagined. When they passed in 2024 and 2025, the loss was deep. The Yoders knew they would open their hearts again someday… but only when it felt right.

Then they saw them.

Smithers—the soft gray sweetheart with wise eyes.
Homer—the quirky little gray-and-white goofball with a spark all his own.

It wasn’t just interest. It was recognition.
These were their boys.

During the meet-and-greet, the connection was instant. The kittens climbed into laps, purred into hands, and made themselves at home as if they had been waiting for this family all along.

And the Yoders felt it too.
The missing pieces had finally clicked back into place.

Today, Homer and Smithers are exactly where they belong—surrounded by laughter, adored by their human siblings, and cherished by parents who know what it means to love and lose and love again.

Their journey started under a deck.
It ends in a forever home overflowing with warmth. ❤️❤️
