Today, with shattered hearts, we said goodbye to Pudding.

There are no words for how painful this decision was. Behavioral euthanasia is one of the hardest and most misunderstood choices rescue faces, but sometimes love means letting go when a dog is no longer able to find peace or safely navigate the world around them.

Pudding was deeply loved, and every decision made for her came from a place of compassion and care. We will carry the weight of this loss for a long time.

Please keep everyone who loved her in your thoughts tonight. Run free, sweet girl.

Bella is officially adopted 🐾❤️

She wasted absolutely no time settling into her new life… and by ‘settling in,’ we mean claiming her human as a full-time cuddle buddy 😂

We are in need of a foster home for Bella or Dobby!

As a small rescue, we can only say “yes” to dogs in need when we have a safe place for them to land. Right now, that safe place has to be YOU.

Bella is our old soul girl. She loves affection, soft beds, and most of all… food. She’s gentle, sweet, and just wants a calm home where she can relax and be loved. We’d love an active foster who will work with her on weight loss.

Dobby is full of personality and charm. He’s playful, loyal, and thrives when he has someone in his corner. He just needs a temporary place to feel safe.

Fostering saves lives. We cover vetting and support you every step of the way — you provide the love and the couch.

So grateful for our veterinary partners at Lake Pointe Veterinary Hospital!

Today is National Animal Rescue Day, and we’re honoring a rescue that means so much to us — Bernie’s Rescue Crew!

If you’ve been around Lake Pointe for a while, you’ve probably heard us mention them. We’re proud to partner with this local, foster-based rescue, and truly consider their dogs part of our extended family.

Bernie’s Rescue Crew was founded in memory of Bernadette (“Bernie”), a beloved senior Golden who inspired a mission rooted in love, second chances, and community. Today, that mission continues through every pup they help — and with the help of their resident sidekicks Tugboat and Remix keeping things fun along the way.

Even though they recently paused new intakes, their work hasn’t stopped. They’re still caring for dogs already in their program and continuing to support fosters and adoptions.

We’re proud to stand beside them!

Update:

At this time, Bernie’s Rescue Crew will be temporarily closed to new intakes.

This is an incredibly hard post to make. The need in our community is overwhelming, and turning dogs away is never something we take lightly. However, in order to make sure the pups currently in our care continue receiving the stability, structure, and love they deserve, we need to pause and regroup.

Our commitment to the dogs already with us has not changed. They are safe, cared for, and very much loved. We’ll continue focusing on supporting our fosters, completing adoptions, and advocating for responsible pet ownership in every way we can.

If you’ve ever considered fostering, adopting, donating, or making sure your own pets are spayed/neutered — those actions truly make a difference right now.

Thank you for your continued support, compassion, and understanding. We’ll share updates as soon as we’re able to reopen intake. 🤍

🍮 Pudding (3 years, Female, Pitty mix)
Our cuddly little house hippo who believes physical touch is a requirement, not a suggestion. Pudding thrives on cozy beds, warm snuggles, and being as close to her humans (or dog friends) as possible. Boarding life was not for her — this girl needs connection. If you want a loyal shadow with squishy cheeks and endless affection, Pudding is ready.

🧦 Dobby (3 years, Male, Pitty/Lab mix)
Yes, like the house elf — and just as devoted. Dobby has that sweet, grateful energy that makes you feel like you’ve won the lottery just by choosing him. He’s playful, gentle, and happiest when he knows he belongs. He’s ready to trade temporary digs for a forever home filled with love (and probably a toy basket he can proudly claim).

🌸 Bella (6 years, Female, Beagle)
Bella is our beautiful old soul. She loves affection, slow moments, and being close to her people… but let’s be honest — her true love language is food. 🥰 If there’s a snack involved, she’s fully invested. She’s gentle, loving, and would thrive in a home that appreciates a calm, affectionate companion who will happily supervise every meal you prepare.

Let me tell you about my girl, Pudding.

While her foster mama was on vacation, we boarded Pudding at Lake Pointe Veterinary Hospital. 24 hours in, I got a call letting me know she was not a happy camper. They tried a few things to help her settle, but a couple days later they called again to say she was really struggling.

So naturally… I went and broke her out.

We already had three dogs at home and worried about adding stress—especially since some of our pups are a little shy (and Pudding is… very much not 😂). But bringing her home turned out to be the easiest decision.

Because this is the truth about Pudding: she wasn’t mad about boarding—she was heartbroken. This girl needs cuddles. She needs a cozy bed, warm bodies, and constant human (or canine) connection. She wants all the love, the smooches, and the snuggles she can possibly get.

I’m so glad I brought her home, because over the last few days I’ve fallen even more in love with her. I can already picture how lucky her forever family is going to be—and I can’t wait for them to feel it too.

This happy guy has zero complaints about snow days—just look at that smile.
