SPCA Cincinnati

SPCA Cincinnati Founded in 1873, SPCA Cincinnati has a long history of service to the Greater Cincinnati community. This location is SPCA’s only operating shelter facility.

SPCA Cincinnati is a humane society dedicated to strengthening the human-animal bond, reducing pet overpopulation through SPCA’s spaying and neutering program, and rescuing as many animals as possible from homelessness and illness. ❤️ Originally founded as the Ohio Humane Society, it was the first organization of its kind in Ohio. In 1907, the name was changed to The Hamilton County Society for th

e Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which was headquartered in downtown Cincinnati. The headquarters moved to Colerain Avenue in Northside in the 1930s. Thanks to the generosity of the community, SPCA Cincinnati built the Sharonville Humane Center in 2008, and received Simmonds Farm as a donation in 2009. The current headquarters for the SPCA Cincinnati is 11900 Conrey Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio 45249. Today, SPCA Cincinnati remains the very epitome of true service to the people and animals in our community. SPCA Cincinnati takes in over 7,305 dogs and 6,001 cats annually. In addition to providing shelter and rehabilitation to these animals in need, SPCA Cincinnati collaborates with government, law enforcement, and social service organizations in its ongoing effort to encourage humane principles and foster the human-animal bond.

Medical Monday highlights the healing, hope, and second chances made possible by our dedicated veterinary team.

Every day, they provide expert, compassionate care to help adoptable pets recover and thrive —for pets like Lint!

Lint arrived with many other cats during a rescue mission through SPCA’s Shelter2Shelter program. It was clear she had a few issues, including a dislocated knee beyond repair.

Dr. Schelle explains Lint’s care plan and how our shelter brought her back to good health, leading to her loving new home.

Happy Pride Month from SPCA Cincinnati.

Every day, we see the powerful connection between people and animals and the comfort, healing, and companionship that bond brings to so many lives.

This month, we recognize and celebrate the LGBTQ+ members of the SPCA Cincinnati community, including our staff, volunteers, adopters, fosters, donors, and supporters.

SPCA Cincinnati is proud to be a place where people who care about animals can come together with compassion, kindness, and a shared commitment to making our community better for both pets and the people who love them.

We are grateful for everyone who helps advance our mission and makes this work possible.

Through , SPCA Cincinnati rescues harder to adopt dogs.

No matter their size, age, or breed mix, these pups are wonderful companions who are ready for a family to call their own. That is why we are working diligently to change the narrative of bully breeds, so that people have an opportunity to see them for who they are: worthy of love!

Rylee is just 5yrs. old. From what we’ve learned she has a calm and gentle personality, and she is a curious girl.

Come meet her or another dog—you could discover a loyal companion who changes your life!

SPCA Cincinnati is investing in the future through the next generation of animal welfare leaders!

Last Saturday’s full turnout for our 2nd Junior Service Day of the year was truly inspiring as youth volunteers ages 12–18 supported shelter animals and our Chow Now Pantry program.

Thank you to the amazing kids and parents for your commitment, compassion, and community spirit. Stay tuned — we’ll keep you posted on the next Junior Service opportunity!

Today, we are proud to share SPCA Cincinnati’s refreshed logo as we continue stepping into a new era for our 153 year old organization.

While the look has been modernized and refined, it still honors the recognizable identity and legacy that have connected SPCA Cincinnati to this community for generations.

Our refreshed logo is clean, simple, modern, and mission focused, with subtle nods to the work we do every day for animals and the people who love them.

This evolution represents far more than updated visuals. It reflects the momentum, progress, and transformation happening across SPCA Cincinnati as we build a stronger, more innovative, and more community focused future for animal welfare in our region and across the country.

Over the rest of this year, you will begin seeing the rollout of our refreshed logo and broader brand identity across SPCA Cincinnati, with the goal of full brand integration by January 1, 2027.

While our brand continues to evolve, our mission remains the same: serving animals and the community with compassion, care, and purpose.

We are incredibly excited for what’s ahead and grateful to have this community with us as we help shape the future of SPCA Cincinnati together.

Today, on , we pause to honor the brave U.S. military personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

Our humane society honors and sustains deep respect for servicemen and women both in life and in remembrance.

At SPCA Cincinnati, we proudly support veterans and active military members every day through our Veterans Pet Adoption Program and Veterans Dog Walking Team.

We are deeply grateful to these amazing veterans who this year helped to rescue pets at our shelter, continuing to demonstrate selflessness. Thank you for being such an invaluable part of our community!

We’re thankful for TQL Total Quality Logistics and their commitment to SPCA Cincinnati’s adoption program. This week alone has been incredible!

TQL's generosity helps us place more shelter dogs into forever homes filled with love. To our community of adopters—your willingness to give a pet a chance means everything! Congratulations to AJ, Loki, Kali, Bean, and Lokila on your new families.

Also, take a look back with us at outtakes from the private adoption event held at TQL’s campus on Wednesday. A lot of love was shared indeed with 22 pets leaving our care for happily ever afters.
