LifeLine Foster

LifeLine Foster Volunteer run page, not official LifeLine, to showcase LL fosters & those needing foster homes. I’m a volunteer and foster mom for LifeLine Animal Project.

I share information about foster animals-mainly from LifeLine-animals in urgent need of foster homes, and resources for those who adopt shelter animals. If you want to sponsor a post for a foster dog or dog in need of a foster home, send $10 to PayPal.Me/DHammacher. Unless otherwise requested, the post will cover the greater Atlanta metro area.

KID-FRIENDLY! 🥰 DOG-FRIENDLY!

Rose is spending a few days with a family to give her a break and help with the overcrowding at Fulton County Animal Services in Atlanta. Here's what we've learned:

-She is kid friendly!
-She wants to greet all of other dogs on hikes, was the submissive one
-She is also a great athletic companion
-She knows how to potty on the leash in case you don’t have a fenced in yard
-She has the softest head and fur, it’s unreal
-Her eyes are a striking light blue
-She is a great car rider, hops right in
-She loves to play with toys and brings them right to you to throw or play tug of war
-Super friendly with people, not afraid to prance around in Petco and get pets
-She's 2 yrs old and 60 lbs.

A couple other things to note: Not recommended with cats, she was too excited/vocal when the resident cats came around. She's had two p*e accidents overnight, other wise she always potties when let outside. She can be very vocal if you leave her alone while you are still in the same house (FOMO 🤪) otherwise she sleeps quietly in her pen.

She has been in the shelter since March 7. She is a GREAT dog! She will go back to the shelter Saturday or Sunday, so please share her and help her to get adopted! To meet her, fill out the form on her profile linked in comments.

Meet Lulish: The Ultimate Adventure Buddy! 🐾✨

Looking for a sidekick who’s down for everything? Meet Lulish (aka Luna), a 1.5-year-old Husky mix who brings the party wherever she goes! Whether it’s hitting up the Starbucks drive-thru, diving into a kiddie pool, or hunting for "dinosaur bones" in the backyard, this girl is living her best life. 🦴☀️

Why you’ll fall in love with Lulish:

The Perfect Family Gal: She is a total lovebug who adores kids (lives with ages 7-11!) and greets every human she meets like a long-lost friend.

Social Butterfly: She’s a superstar at doggy daycare and loves playing with active doggy friends. A home with another dog to run and play with is a must for her!

Total Chill: Despite her energy, she’s quiet, non-reactive to neighborhood noise (leaf blowers? Lawn mowers? Bring it on!), and is fully crate and potty trained.

Affection Overload: If there’s a chance for a belly rub, she’s already on her back!

Ready for Anything: She’s spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and current on all her preventatives.

A few notes from her foster family:
Lulish is the perfect age to keep life exciting, but she’s still a puppy at heart—she’s working on her manners (no jumping, please!) and would love an adopter who wants to continue her training. Because she’s a smart, curious Husky mix with a streak of "escape artist," she should have a secure, fenced-in yard to keep her safe while she explores.

She’s smart, loyal, affectionate, and ready to find her forever family. If you’re looking for a dog who will slide down waterslides with your kids and then snuggle up for a nap, Lulish is your girl!

Interested in meeting this sweet, goofy, adventurous lady? She's available for foster takeover or adoption. Fill out the form on her profile linked in comments. She's in foster in metro Atlanta for Dekalb County Animal Services.

Where are my shy dog people? Please share if you can't adopt.
"I can’t tell you what made me get in my car that day—

I guess I thought I’d try to make up for it,
When the world decided he shouldn’t be in it.

He sank into the shelter floor,
Hoping it would swallow him whole,
Hoping I would leave him behind.
But I told him I wasn’t leaving without him.

So I carried all 55lbs of him to the car.

On the drive home,
he tried to disappear into the floorboard,
His world was too loud,
So we drove home in silence.

And many nights over the next 9 months,
I went to sleep drying my eyes.
Angry at myself,
For forcing him to go into this world that hurt him.

Each walk was cruelty ,
Each stranger was survival.
And each night I thought,
Maybe they were right,
That euthanasia was kinder.

Instead of teaching him to sit,
I had to teach him just to stand tall,
Like no one had ever hurt him at all.

Instead of learning fetch,
We learned that touch doesn’t mean pain,
That the world doesn’t have to hurt at all.

“The most broken dog I’ve ever met, but let’s try to glue these pieces back together” his trainer said.

Over the next 3 months,
We watched him stand a little taller for a few minutes at a time,
But minutes turned to hours,
And hours turned to days.
Then he took his first walk…with his tail held as high as his head.

I prayed I would know the right moment to take these walls down,
That I spent a year building around him,
To shield his fragile heart.

Then today,
I watched him find joy in a rain puddle,
Dancing in the rain, a new meaning.

So today, I told him he stood taller than all the walls I’ve built.
That we would start searching for his person
Who was somewhere waiting to dance in the rain with their soul dog.

He is still a scared boy, but he's now brave enough to take the next step in his journey to his forever home.
A home with the person who will continue to patiently help him stand tall and find joy in the world.

If you’d like to meet Bear (shelter name Chow Mein), please inquire at the link below."

Meet Nucleus, the lovable goofball. His foster dad: "I mean, there's so much to Nuke. He's very regimented and will let you know he's ready for his morning walk. Something he never wants to go without. But the rest of the day, he's content to sleep and snore on the couch or snuggle up and watch Netflix.

"He never meets a stranger and wants to make all the new friends he can, two-legged or four-. He's not really food-motivated, so you don't have to worry about begging at the table.

"He's crate-trained, and he knows to let you know when he needs to go outside. Usually, this is him calmly sitting by the front door, but if you miss the signal, he'll come find you.

"He's also just a lovable goofball when he's playing outside or with other dogs. He wants to play with cats, but he doesn't understand that they are not 60-pound dogs like he is, and they don't like barking or roughhousing."

Nucleus is living in a home with kids too! He's in foster for LifeLine's Community Animal Center in metro Atlanta.

To meet this lovable goofball, fill out the form on his profile, link in comments, to be in touch with his foster parents.
