Its momma Viva’s time to find the forever home she has always deserved. At approximately 6 years old, this beautiful brindle girl has clearly spent her life being used for breeding — but those days are officially behind her. Now it’s Viva’s turn to be spoiled, loved, and treated like family.

Viva will be spayed in a week and is already up to date on vaccines, 4DX negative, microchipped, and on monthly preventatives.

This sweet girl absolutely adores people of all sizes and will do just about anything for a snack. After arriving to us severely emaciated, we can’t really blame her for occasionally trying to counter surf for food. She’s learning that meals will always come consistently now.

Viva is:
• Good with other dogs
• Loves cats
• Obsessed with playing ball — whether it’s with her people or entertaining herself
• A professional couch potato

She is still working on crate training and would benefit from some continued basic training, but overall she is a loving, easygoing girl who just wants comfort, kindness, and snacks.

After spending years giving everything to everyone else, it’s finally Viva’s turn to be someone’s baby.

We truly cannot believe little Guava is still waiting for her forever family. This tiny 3 month old girl is packed full of personality and charm in one adorable little body. We aren’t exactly sure what her mix is — maybe a little Chihuahua, maybe a little Pittie — but one thing we do know is that she’s going to stay on the smaller side.
Guava absolutely loves other dogs and cats, making her an easy addition to almost any home. She’s learning how to walk on leash and is doing amazingly well for such a young pup. She loves to romp around and play, carries her toys around proudly, and when the fun is over, she’s happiest curled up under the blankets in her pen like the tiny cuddle bug she is.
She has the sweetest spirit, a playful heart, and so much love to give. All she’s missing is a family of her own.
Let’s find this precious girl the happy ending she deserves.

Reintroducing Irene 🤍

Irene came to us from ACCT Philly with what we originally thought was just excessive skin flaking. After months of treatments that weren’t helping and a visit to the Dermatologist, we finally have answers. Irene has been diagnosed with non-epidermolytic ichthyosis.
So what does that mean for Irene? Non-epidermolytic ichthyosis is a genetic, incurable skin condition that causes dry, flaky, “fish-like” scaling on the skin and coat. While there is no cure, it is manageable with consistent care. Irene will need regular topical treatments including moisturizing shampoos, emollients, and essential fatty acid supplements to help maintain her skin barrier and keep her comfortable.
What this means for a future family is simple — sometimes Irene will have flare ups that cause large flakes of skin. She needs a home that understands her condition and is willing to help manage it so she can continue thriving.
And Irene is SO worth it.
She currently lives with both small and large dogs as well as cats. Irene does best with slow introductions and a proper shutdown period because her excitement can sometimes be misunderstood. Once she settles in, her personality shines through. She would thrive with an active family committed to continuing her training and helping her work on her manners.
We would absolutely love to see Irene in a local foster-to-adopt home while she adjusts and settles into her new life.
Please share Irene — it’s finally her time to shine ✨

Please meet Gloria — affectionately known as Beefcake Betty — the chunky little queen with a personality as big as her adorable bulldog smile. At 5 years old, this English Bulldog/Frenchie of sorts mix has officially entered her “seasoned and selective” era, and honestly… she’s earned it.

Gloria may be a little on the thick side, but she’s working on her summer body one stubborn bulldog waddle at a time. Beneath those rolls and sass is an incredibly sweet girl with a huge heart and endless charm.

The official Gloria report:
🐾 Crate trained and proud of it — she loves her crate and happily sleeps there.
🐾 Dog friendly, especially with calm, respectful larger dogs.
🐾 Currently living with a young Rottie mix and has made it VERY clear she is retired from entertaining puppy nonsense. When he starts his antics? Gloria simply gets up and leaves the room like the mature lady she is.
🐾 Would thrive in a bulldog-savvy home that understands the breed’s lovable stubbornness and big opinions. She’s sweet, but she absolutely likes things done “the Gloria way.” Typical bulldog behavior. Also that she cannot tolerate the heat due to being brachycephalic
🐾 Full disclosure: Gloria is NOT a fan of restraint, especially from the big scary vet people. Blood draws, exams, and things of that nature will require patience, understanding, and proper handling with her comfort and stress levels in mind.
🐾 She also makes the BEST Frenchie/bulldog noises and will absolutely give Walter a run for his money in the snorting, grumbling, talking department.
Miss Gloria is the perfect mix of sass, comedy, affection, and bulldog stubbornness. If your ideal companion is a snorting, opinionated couch potato with a heart of gold, Gloria may just be your soulmate.

Meet sweet Hazel — the definition of quiet strength.

This beautiful 5-year-old Havanese with soft fawn patches and striking light green eyes came to rescue after spending her life in a puppy mill. When she could no longer be bred, she was finally given the chance at a new beginning. But for Hazel, learning how to simply be a dog is a journey that is only just beginning.

Her story is written all over her. The quiet fear in her eyes and her gentle, cautious nature are both heartbreaking and inspiring. When Hazel first arrived, she was terrified of nearly everything. She would tremble anytime someone approached her, lowering her eyes as if trying to disappear. Yet despite the fear and uncertainty she carried, she never showed aggression — only quiet resilience.

Interestingly, Hazel seemed to trust children the most from the start. We can only imagine that perhaps the children at the farm were the only ones who ever showed her kindness.

And slowly, little by little, Hazel has started to bloom.

She has begun seeking out gentle affection from her humans and has discovered that ear scratches might actually be one of life’s greatest treasures. She’s starting to show playful moments and curiosity, and watching her learn that the world can be safe has been incredibly rewarding.

Hazel absolutely LOVES other dogs and would thrive in a home with a confident canine companion to help continue building her confidence. She is also cat friendly, crate trained, doing wonderfully with potty training, and learning how to walk on a leash.

Because of her past, Hazel would do best in a calm, patient home with older children who can understand and respect her need for time and space while she settles in. Once she trusts you, she will be the most loyal and loving companion imaginable.

Hazel truly embodies quiet courage. After everything she has endured, she still wants so badly to love and be loved. Beneath her fearful exterior is an absolute diamond waiting to shine.

Her future family is going to be so incredibly lucky to have her.

As the holiday weekend approaches, this $5 Friday felt a little different. In honor of the loss of our precious Allison, we knew exactly what we had to do. Normally we would pull one dog from the shelter… but this time, we took two. ❤️

Please welcome Eleanor, formerly Willow from ACCT Philly, and Yeti, formerly Maui from ACCT Philly, to the Outcast family.

Eleanor is a 10-year-old spayed Chihuahua mix whose owner sadly became hospitalized and could no longer care for her. This tiny little lady has already stolen our hearts. Outside of booster vaccines and a very overdue dental, she will be ready to find her forever home in just a few short weeks. She has been an absolute pleasure so far — and she’s so tiny you can literally carry her in a purse.
Yeti caught our attention weeks ago, but at the time we simply could not secure a foster for him. Yesterday, he appeared on the timestamp list again and we could not believe this sweet boo-boo faced boy was running out of time. He did amazing in shelter play groups, and we cannot wait to watch him finally get the chance to shine and be loved the way he deserves.

While our hearts are still grieving Allison, saving lives like Eleanor and Yeti’s is how we honor her memory.

Please consider making a small donation this $5 Friday to help us welcome these new babies into rescue. Every dollar helps provide medical care, supplies, food, and a safe place to land.

We are so beyond devastated to announce that Allison earned her wings late this afternoon.

The ultrasound revealed a tumor in her urethral wall, likely carcinoma, along with having a pyometra. There was copious amounts of blood, and despite every effort, Allison made no improvement and began struggling to breathe.
Today we had to make the heartbreaking but humane decision to let her go peacefully so she would never have to suffer another moment.
Our hearts are completely shattered. No dog should ever know the pain, neglect, and abandonment that Allison endured. But we are grateful beyond words that her final hours were spent surrounded by love, gentle hands, warm blankets, and people who cared deeply for her — not alone in an alleyway or scared in a shelter kennel.
She mattered.
She was loved.
And she did not leave this world forgotten.
Run free, sweet angel. We are so sorry we were too late. 💔🐾

Reintroducing Picasso — the reformed “bull in a china shop” turned certified beefcake.

Picasso came to us from ACCT Philly several months ago weighing a heartbreaking 110 pounds with absolutely zero manners. At the time, this 7-year-old pitbull terrier mix was the definition of chaos wrapped in love. Since then, he has worked incredibly hard and officially reached his goal weight of 80 pounds — and honestly… he looks GOOD.

This handsome guy is neutered, microchipped, 4DX negative, up to date on vaccines including Lepto, and on monthly preventatives. He is crate trained, walks nicely on leash, and recently completed a 3-week board and train with GypsyK9 Solutions to help set him up for success in his forever home.

Picasso is a dog who absolutely adores his people. He is affectionate, clingy, and fully believes he is a 10-pound lap dog despite being built like a linebacker. Belly rubs, naps across your lap, and soaking up attention are his specialties. He also loves moose antlers and treat puzzles — especially anything durable because this boy is an aggressive chewer.

Now for Picasso’s perfect match:
• He must be the only pet in the home. While he initially had a good dog meet at the shelter, repeated attempts at introductions and training showed that Picasso truly prefers to fly solo.
• He has a sun sensitivity caused by years of sun exposure and his lack of pigmentation. He will need sunscreen and a sun shirt for outdoor adventures to prevent painful skin flare-ups.
• He is not a fan of squeaky toys or high-pitched sounds like smoke detectors or bike horns.

What Picasso offers in return is endless affection and unwavering loyalty. He deserves a home that wants HIM and only HIM — and trust us, he is more than enough dog to fill your heart.
