Optimum Eventing

Optimum Eventing Optimum Eventing strives to provide a flourishing team attitude while supplying desirable conditions for successful competitions.

Optimum Eventing was founded by Lee Ann Gilson, an A graduate from the United States Pony Club, who is the owner, manager, and trainer at In Unison Farm LLC. She has competed Crack the Code at Novice and Third Level dressage. She started and trained Crack the Code as well as many other horses that have been successful in the show world. She is a certified instructor with USEA for Level II - Traini

ng. She has also trained and coached many successful riders over the years in the Eventing and Dressage world. She offers instruction to riders who are equine owners and desire to develop a deep connection with their mount. A connection that enables them to capture the best possible performance from their equine partner while sensing that they are a part of that body in motion, moving in unison. She provides a customized quiet approach for her students that allows her to promote the most out of the rider. She has high expectations from her riders, yet, the expectations are within reach for each rider.

What a great show we had at AYDC today! Jenna brought her new baby Bailey and did Intro A scoring a 57.813% and Intro B scoring a 56.875% taking first in both. Not too shabby for only having her since April 24th. And come to find out Jenna thought she was buying a 3 year old but when she looked at her papers to register her Bailey's official birthday is in July, so she is really only 2!

Carley brought her new girl Izzy that she has had two weeks and rode around as a non-compete and this girl has the bestest brain. She took everything in stride.

Lee Ann & Signed in Ink competed Starter CT scoring a 34.063%, jumping double clear and taking 4th, and they showed Training Level Test 2 scoring a 68.276% bringing home a 1st. He was such a good boy at this show and I felt a shift in him in warm-up that he is starting to figure out this showing thing and staying better focused. Our T2 test was the best and most focused test we have ridden and I cannot wait to watch the video. Thanks Jenna/Carley for videoing.

Thankful to Liz and AYDC for holding their small show because we had fun doing things there today. Lee Ann & Signed in Ink showed Training Level Test 1 scoring a 67.308% and Training Level Test 2 scoring a 64.310% taking home 1st in both classes. They also competed Starter CT scoring a 35.625% to bring home another blue. They also were Dressage High Point Champions.

Brylee & Phantom of the Opera showed Training Level Test 2 scoring 61.897% taking 1st, and Training Level Test 3 scoring 60.60% bringing home 3rd. They also competed in an Amoeba jump round and Starter jump round bringing home 1st in both.

Looking forward to their show in two weeks on May 30th.

Foxberry Farm's show yesterday was a nice relaxing atmosphere. Mary Catherine & Athena competed Starter CT scoring a 39.11% and jumping double clear to earn them 3rd. Plus they did Training Level Test 1 scoring a 65.0% taking 3rd, and Training Level Test 3 scoring 63.8% taking 4th.

Brylee & Phantom of the Opera showed Training Level Test 1 scoring a 65.19% taking 2nd and Training Level Test 3 scoring a 66.8% taking 2nd again.

Jenna and her new baby Bailey came and hung out as a non-compete horse and handled the atmosphere like a champ.

Also proud of Michelle & My Dodgy Endeavor for coming and showing Intro A for their first show together in GA scoring a 57.19% and bringing home a pretty yellow ribbon (3rd).

Marketing 101. Same company, same formula, but clearly one of these two products is geared specifically toward horse owners. And more times than not it’s going to work because would you be more inclined to pick up the Absorbine logo that had the horse or didn’t have the horse if you were buying for your horse.

I want to give a shout out to Carley Johnston for being a brave soul that goes on a wing and a prayer these days. Her personal horse Cas has decided he needs front shoes and life half in a stall and half on turnout because he has thin soles, and this is not something she can offer him. Last time she had shoes on him he kept pulling them off because they have a pond in their pasture. So she had a stand in horse she had ridden only twice before for the AYDC show in March and he was going to be her mount for the GDCTA show as well but his old injury decided he couldn't play anymore. So what did she do, well she bought a horse at the auction on April 4th and brought him to the show. Yes folks she had this horse for a week and brought him to the show. She bravely showed Intro B and Intro C on a horse she has not had time to figure out the buttons on yet and he has not had time to figure out what her cues are. I love that she just goes with it! While she was not happy with her scores I am thrilled for her because she managed to score a 55.937% on Intro B and scored a 49.5% on Intro C when she didn't get the canter one way and got 4-5 strides of canter on the wrong lead the other way. I can see the potential in this partnership because of those scores, where all she saw was the number. When they start to figure each other out they will achieve great things!

The GDCTA Schooling Show was fun this weekend. Saw many people I haven't seen in a while and it was great catching up.

Saturday Brylee & Phantom of the Opera showed Training Level Test 1 scoring a 61.923% taking 4th and Training Level Test 2 scoring 64.310% taking 2nd. Sunday they showed Training Level Test 1 and Training Level Test 3 and it was obvious by the scores that Phantom of the Opera was not the judges cup of tea but Brylee was happy with her tests so that is all that matters. They scored 59.038% and 59.200% taking 6th and 3rd.

Also on Sunday Mary Catherine & Athena competed Starter CT scoring a 33.437% bringing home the blue! They also showed Training Level Test 1 scoring 61.154% taking 4th and Training Level Test 2 scoring 63.276% taking 2nd. The pieces are starting to come together for them!

Lee Ann & Signed in Ink competed Starter CT scoring 33.75% and bringing home the blue. They also showed Training Level Test 2 scoring 62.759% bringing home the blue.

Long fun day at the AYDC schooling show yesterday.
Carley had a last minute horse change because her boy didn't want to play so she took a 5 year old TB that she had only ridden twice before. I would say she did awesome considering she showed Intro A scoring a 56.563%, Intro B scoring a 58.438%, and Intro C scoring a 60.0250% bringing home 2nd, 1st, and 1st.

Jenna & Donnerdream had their First Level debut showing First Level Test 1 scoring 62.407% and First Level Test 2 scoring 61.970% bringing home two blue ribbons.

Mary Catherine & Athena had an energetic start to the show where the ride consisted of half halt and repeat but she persevered. They showed Training Level Test 1 scoring 58.077% taking 3rd, Training Level Test 2 scoring 61.897% taking 2nd, and Training Level Test 3 scoring 60.200% taking 5th.

Brylee & Phantom of the Opera showed Training Level Test 1 scoring 61.923% taking 2nd and Training Level Test 2 scoring 64.655% bringing home 1st.

Lee Ann & Signed in Ink competed Starter CT scoring a 32.813% and adding 4.8 time penalties (because I am making sure to build his confidence over fences and we have jumped only a handful of fences since last year, although yesterday he showed he is definitely confident) to finish in 3rd.

Congrats ladies and onward to the GDCTA Spring Fling.

Love that USEA sent these to us to wear at shows. I will be wearing mine. Been certified since Sept 2017.
