Saturday, we took Alastor to ABC Action News for a filming segment (airs Mon. A.M. 6/22) and afterward we grabbed lunch at Panera. Spending a few hours with him outside the shelter was such a great reminder that the kennel only tells part of a dogโs story.
After spending that time with him, I honestly would not describe Alastor as a high-energy dog like we have been previously. I think heโs a perfectly normal 3ยฝ year old who would simply benefit from regular exercise and a routineโฆsomething thatโs hard to provide in a shelter environment.
He rode quietly in the car, behaved in the lobby around other dogs, greeted strangers with a wagging tail, and had wonderful manners at Panera. Everywhere we went, he was friendly, calm, and polite.
When it comes to other dogs, Alastor enjoys playing, but his style is more โfull-contact footballโ than gentle tag. He loves to roughhouse and would do best with a canine buddy who enjoys that same kind of play. He is not a match for a home with cats.
Taking shelter dogs out into the community lets you see who they really are, and Alastor absolutely shined โค๏ธ
