Thanks to a generous $10,000 Big Bet for Pets Boost grant from the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation , the APA can help more pets in underserved communities receive the veterinary care they need to thrive!

This funding will support community-based veterinary services in North St. Louis County, including our pop-up vaccine clinics and free spay/neuter services for families who face financial and other barriers to care.

We are grateful to the Duffield Foundation for making this Big Bet on Us and the shared vision of a future where every family pet has access to the care they need to live a happy, healthy life. Together, we're building a more compassionate community where pets and people thrive!

Join us Sunday, Nov. 1, from noon–4 p.m. at 9 Mile Garden for the Better Together Adoption Event, presented by Purina and supporting the Coalition for Pet Progress.

We’ll be there with adoptable pets looking for loving homes. 🏠 Plus, Purina will cover adoption fees for the first 100 pets adopted, up to $25,000!

Meet our Shelter Star for October, Josie! 🌟

Josie has been with the APA for 5 years as a Senior Animal Caregiver. When we asked her what her favorite thing about working at the APA was, she told us it was getting out into the community and helping at Vaccine Clinics, food distribution, and adoption events.

We're so grateful for all of the hard work Josie brings to the APA. ❤️🐾

Meet the residents of our Post Holdings-sponsored cat condo, 7-year-old siblings Meliodas and Jericho!

Meliodas is a gentle soul who takes time to feel comfortable. He enjoys calm, quiet moments. Jericho is the more outgoing of the two, a chatty girl who always has something to say! These gorgeous cats enjoy treats and each other's company. They are both feeling a little nervous in the shelter, but with time to settle in, they'll make wonderful companions. 🐱

Meet Bunny, a friendly and lovable pup who is ready to hop right into your heart! At 2 years old, Bunny is the perfect mix of playful and snuggly: she still gets the "zoomies" and is always up for a belly rub. 💙

This sweet girl was brought in as a stray, and she has a few medical issues to overcome: she is recovering from ringworm (a skin infection caused by fungi) and will need heartworm treatment. Bunny deserves to get back to full health in the comfort of a home!

We are excited to announce that on November 7, we will partner with the Saint Louis Zoo to host a FREE vaccine clinic from 10 AM to 2 PM at Saint Louis Zoo Wild Care Park while supplies last.

We will offer free rabies vaccines, distemper vaccines, and microchips for dogs and cats.

We are honored to work alongside Purina to raise awareness of the unique challenges domestic violence survivors face when they have pets.

Kim Beardslee, Director of Community Affairs at Purina, explains how Purina's Purple Leash Project helps keep people and pets together as they escape unsafe situations.

Purina, in partnership with RedRover, provides grants to domestic violence shelters to build pet-friendly spaces so pets can stay with their owners when they escape an unsafe situation. You'll meet one of them in our next video!
