Incase anyone did not see the recent email from Tiffany from the city, here is what it says:
Hello,
We received a complaint today from a new dog park member about her first experience at the Dog Park this morning. This person just purchased their membership yesterday. According to this new member, when she showed up with her 90+ lb dog, she was told by a female already in the large dog area that her dog (the dog already in the fenced in area) was not friendly and that person instructed her to use the small dog area. This person has requested a refund for her membership. If this is indeed what happened, this is unacceptable. Please keep in mind the following dog park rules:
Owners are legally responsible for their dogs and any injuries or damages caused by them. If you know your dog is not friendly then perhaps they should not be in a dog park with other dogs.
Owners of large dogs have priority to use the large dog area. It is not ok to instruct others to leave as the dog park is for ALL members, not just a select few.
Dogs showing ANY sign of aggression must be immediately removed from the park. If you are asked to leave the park, you must do so IMMEDIATELY. I’m not sure if the dog in question was showing any signs of aggression, but if the owner commented “my dog is not friendly” then that owner is aware of the potential for problems.
This type of behavior can lead to suspension and/or banishment.
Please be respectful and kind to all members.
Please keep this in mind next time you go to the park!
