Currently at .vets with Samhain. Fortunately no surprising news so far- dehydrated, emaciated, full of probably every worm known to man and then some (hookworms, whipworms, roundworms, lungworms, AND COCCIDIA found in just the one in house f***l sample). Going to load up with a B12 shot, CN critical care food, Albon (for the coccidia), tripling up on the dewormer to nuke the nasties from orbit, more fluids. Heā€™s eating teeny tiny bits- his insides feel not so good- and he still has the diarrhea of course. He justā€¦ goes. And sits in it. I see many, MANY baths in his future. When I told the universe I needed my kittens to poo, I wasnā€™t asking for one that wonā€™t STOP pooing. Thereā€™s no winning! šŸ˜©

Well, my day took a detour. Do I have open fosters? Nope. Do I have room for another kitten? Nope. Do we have funds for more vet visits? LOL. Yetā€¦ here we are. Meet Samhain. Postmaster General Samhain.

He is extremely stinky and is I think the most parasite-infested kitten I have ever seen. For nasty details, keep reading- if you donā€™t want them, scroll after the strawberries.

Ok yā€™all, Samhain is very gross. Weā€™ve dewormed here, but we will be taking him to the vet ASAP (he wasnā€™t urgent urgent, i was able to stabilize him at home, and I donā€™t have urgent care funds so he will wait til business hours but heā€™s gotta go in). For one, heā€™s emaciated. Not as dehydrated as I assumed but Iā€™m giving him fluids here anyways.
He has diarrhea that is just.. falling out of him. It must have been going on for a while because he has no reaction to it. Itā€™s poo, mucus, and segments of worms. Clearly visibly worm parts. Itā€™s textured. Itā€™s horrific. He also has re**al bleeding- but itā€™s light and low, from irritation and probably his organ linings from the parasites. Not internal bleeding or any of that. Heā€™s missing a ton of fur around his butt and the base of his tail from urine scald and irritation from the ceaseless diarrhea.
We think he was starving and managed to climb into the dumpster but couldnā€™t get out. Also heā€™s so skinny Iā€™m not positive he IS a boy. Heā€™s all bones no balls, but *looks* more male. Heā€™s also extremely sensitive down there and squirmy so Iā€™m letting him rest after his invasive baths.

After our vet bills last month from the kittens and Fennel, Iā€™m tapped out. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Planning to call in the AM and get in tomorrow if possible.

Anarchy is being a good boy at his first therapy appointment ride-along.
I know this is a rescue page, but mental health is extremely important, especially in these current times. Itā€™s also expensive, but there may be options available to you. For example, my husband is a touring musician here in Athens, so I get help with the costs from NuƧi's Space . They help both musicians AND their families and are a wonderful resource (and place to volunteer if youā€™re looking to do some good!).

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. If you are struggling in any way, please reach out.

Theyā€™re very curious about their new digs! Anarchy will still sleep in his heated carrier (Molly is a little too violent to leave them alone together overnight, sheā€™s a little turd) but they get supervised playtime while I work.

Also, Anarchy is DEFINITELY a boy. Oop. His legs wonā€™t need any binding, though- theyā€™ve stretched out on their own and he walks just fine! Wobbly, but fine.

ALSO, Robin and Falcon were adopted yesterday! Unfortunately, though, Biscuit and Gravy were returned for fighting with the adopterā€™s previous cat. PLEASE remember, cats arenā€™t tiny people. They are animals. Slow introductions are key, and it doesnā€™t take hours or days- it can take weeks. Please be very patient with them. Remember the 3-3-3 rule - 3 DAYS to decompress, 3 WEEKS to adjust and learn your routine, 3 MONTHS to start to feel at home. Introducing cats too quickly can absolutely lead to fights. They donā€™t know whatā€™s going on. Please give them time.
