Happy Peruvian Hairless Dog Day! 🇵🇪✨

Today we're celebrating one of the world's most ancient and unique breeds—the Peruvian Hairless Dog (or Perro Sin Pelo del Perú, if you're fancy). These elegant, affectionate pups have been around for over 3,000 years, and they're as special as they are stunning.

Here's what makes them amazing:
🐾 Hypoallergenic-friendly: No fur means they're often a great match for people with allergies who've been dreaming of a four-legged companion.
☀️ Sensitive skin needs love: Their hairless bodies need extra care—think sunscreen in the summer, moisturizer for dry skin, and cozy sweaters when it's chilly. A little TLC goes a long way!
💙 Loyal and warm (literally): Their skin runs warmer than other breeds, making them perfect snuggle buddies.

If you have a Peruvian Hairless Dog or know someone who does, we'd love to hear about their care routine or favorite quirks! Drop a photo or story in the comments. 👇

There's nothing quite like the warmth of a cat cuddle — and science backs it up. Hugging your feline friend can lower stress, release feel-good hormones like oxytocin, and strengthen that special bond you share. It's good for you and for them.

But here's the thing: not every cat is a hugger. Some kitties find tight embraces overwhelming or stressful, and that's totally okay. The key? Know your cat.

Signs your cat might not be into hugs:
• Ears flattened back
• Tail twitching or thrashing
• Trying to wriggle away
• Tense body language

Love a cat who's not a hugger? Try these instead:
💙 Slow blinks (the ultimate cat "I love you")
🧡 Gentle chin scratches or cheek rubs
💙 Interactive play sessions
🧡Just sitting nearby — sometimes presence is enough

Every cat shows and receives love differently. Today, celebrate by meeting your feline exactly where they are. 🩵😻

✨ National Greyhound Day — Celebrate the Gentle Rockets! ✨

Today we're giving a big CLK shout-out to one of the sweetest, sleepiest, zoomiest breeds around — the Greyhound. 🩶

💛 Fun fact: Greyhounds can hit 45 mph… and then immediately act like they've never run a day in their life.
💛 Even better: They're famously gentle, goofy, and absolute pros at couch-hogging.

If you've ever loved a Greyhound — or just admire their elegant derp energy — take a moment to celebrate them today!

💥 Want to go above and beyond? American Greyhound (an Indiana-based nonprofit) is expecting a large group of Greyhounds from a breeding facility on June 13th — and they urgently need foster homes. If you're willing and able to temporarily welcome one of these gentle rockets and help them transition, reach out to:
📧 Erin: [email protected]
📧 Nicole: [email protected]

Check out their post below for all the details! ⬇️ 🏡🐾

American Greyhound will be welcoming a large group of greyhounds from a breeding facility on June 13. We are in need of volunteers to help with intake as well as foster homes. The hounds will be arriving in Valparaiso, Indiana. If you are available to help please contact Erin [email protected] or Nicole [email protected] if you are able to help.

🎉🐾 Happy International Sheltie Day! 🐾🎉

Got a Sheltie stealing the show at your place? Drop a photo or story in the comments—we want to see them today. (Dramatic floof pics? Absolutely encouraged. We live for those.)

🌈 June is bursting with reasons to celebrate our pets, and we're here for all of it:

😽 Adopt a Cat / Adopt a Shelter Cat Month:
Adopted a cat recently—or years ago? We want to see them! Send us your photos via messenger, email, or text. We'll be spotlighting adopted kitties all month long.

🐾 Foster a Pet Month
Want to help without adopting? Here's how:
• Donate supplies to local shelters or foster networks
• Share foster success stories with us—we'd love to spotlight them
• Tag a foster hero you know (they deserve the love)

🧰 Pet Preparedness Month → 🔍 Microchipping Month
Summer storms, fireworks, and travel season are right around the corner. Now's the perfect time to microchip your pets and double-check your contact info is current. A tiny chip = a huge safety net.

🌈 Pride Month
We're celebrating love in all its forms. Stay tuned—we're launching a Pride-themed surprise sometime this month. 🎁😉

🤝 Social PETworking Month
We're building and refreshing our local pet-friendly network and planning to highlight:
• Local groomers
• Trainers
• Pet-friendly businesses
• Shelters & rescues
• Small pet-related brands

If you're a local business and want to collaborate, reach out—we'd LOVE to connect.

🐶🧡 Today belongs to the Shelties, but the whole month belongs to the pets who make our world brighter.
Drop your Sheltie pics below and send us your adopted cat photos anytime this month. We can't wait to celebrate with you.

🚨 Heads up, everyone! 🚨

Large boulders have appeared on Route 24 ( at least between Norwoods and County Line Kennels)—no idea if they fell from the sky or just decided to take a road trip, but they're causing flat tires left and right. At least four so far!

Please drive carefully if you're heading that way. Your tires will thank you. 🧡

Plot twist: We meant to celebrate National Dog Mom's Day yesterday, but then life happened (you know how it goes). But here's the thing—celebrating pet moms on actual Mother's Day? That just feels right. 💙
Happy Mother's Day to all the mamas! Tell us: what's your favorite thing about being a pet parent?
