Ames Animal Shelter is hosting a no-cost microchip and vaccination clinic for dogs and cats on Saturday, May 30, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Ames Water Plant. Sponsored by Bailing Out Benji, this drive-up event offers microchips and Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations at no cost.

Ames residents can register for an appointment through April 30, after which any remaining spots will open to the general public. There is a limit of three pets per household. To request an appointment or read the full details, visit the link below.

Hello my amazingly patient cat crew! You guys have stuck it out with us as we have shown up for the city of Ames all along. We’re exploring a transition for our established, cat-exclusive grooming location and are looking for an experienced groomer ready to step into operational ownership.

This is an operator ready business with an existing client base, equipment, and systems in place to support our community. A gentle transition period is available to help ensure continuity of care for clients and cats.

Important details:

Ideal for an experienced groomer ready to run their own location and needs a leg up in their career while helping another groomer adjust to new career needs themselves. This is a mutually beneficial deal we are looking for.

One existing employee is able to remain on staff who is a dedicated and hard worker, but not quite experienced enough to run herself. Adores cats, so solid employee pick!

Support for transition is the number one goal for clients, their cats and the new owners

We care deeply about our clients and the cats we serve, and we’re looking for someone who wants to continue that work we've started here.

Hey Sweet Whiskers supporters!!! Update on the nonprofit status here. 😕

In summary we can't do a non profit that uses the good will of Sweet Whiskers namesake. It just appears to the IRS as a successor and tax evasion. Which is not what we are trying to do here.

While I'm incredibly bummed, I'm thankful for the attorney who helped us straighten this out early on whole bank accounts and everything it's still seperate and approved.

You'll be seeing a lot more of me on the No Shame Support Network as I take a step back from here.

Please know you have our support regardless and we are looking at all the options as we move forward.

For our followers that live in Polk County... heads up! Feb. 9-10 is community / feral cats days for their TNR (trap-neuter-return) program!

TNR OPENINGS AVAILABLE! Attention, community cat caregivers: Alley Cat Allies and the ARL are collaborating to hold a FREE TNR (trap-neuter-return) event on Feb. 9-10 for community cats in Polk County. Alley Cat Allies is covering all costs of spay and neuter surgeries, and more, through its Cats Are Family, Too™ — Keeping Families Together™ program. 50 spots are available, so sign up quickly!

During the appointments, cats will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and ear-tipped. Caregivers will then return them to their outdoor homes so they can continue living their best lives … without reproducing.
