Because it's the one day of the week when you can often take your time.

The gates open at noon. The rides begin at 2 PM. The crowds are typically lighter. It's a chance to explore the grounds, visit the exhibits, enjoy your favorite fair food, and get those first rides in before the busiest days of the week arrive.

For some families, Opening Day has become their favorite day to visit the fair.

📅 Opening Day of the 2026 Altamont Fair is Tuesday, August 18.

And if Opening Day sounds like your kind of fair day, don't forget about the Flash Sale happening July 1–4.

During the Flash Sale:
🎟️ General Admission Tickets: $10 (plus $1.25 processing fee)
🎡 Unlimited Ride Wristbands: $17.76 (plus $1.24 processing fee)

The best part? Flash Sale tickets and wristbands can be used ANY day of the fair—not just Opening Day.
