A little update on my tiny Peanut 🐾❤️

At Peanut’s annual vaccination appointment, our lovely vet picked up a lump during her routine health check. It wasn’t something I had noticed myself, which just shows how important those regular vet check-ups really are.

Today she has been incredibly brave and had surgery to remove the lump so it can be sent away for testing. It’s been a very worrying day, but I’m so relieved to say she is now safely home and resting comfortably 🥹❤️

I wanted to share this because it’s such an important reminder to always get any lumps, bumps or changes checked by your vet, no matter how small they may seem. I also cannot stress enough how important pet insurance is. We all hope we’ll never need it, but when unexpected situations happen, it allows you to make decisions based on what is best for your pet rather than worrying about the cost.

A huge thank you to the amazing team at Armac Vets for taking such wonderful care of my little baby today. We are so grateful for your kindness and care ❤️🐶

Now for lots of cuddles, rest and recovery for little Peanut 🐾✨

🌧️🐾 Puppy Class Heroes! 🐾🌧️

A huge well done to everyone who braved the torrential rain for puppy class this week! I think it’s fair to say you’re all pretty hardcore! 💪😂

Despite the awful British summer weather, every puppy (and human!) turned up ready to learn and did an amazing job. This week we worked on:

🐶 Loose lead walking
🐶 Recall
🐶 Tackling those enthusiastic puppy greetings and jumping up

The pups were absolutely fantastic and it’s great to see their confidence and skills growing each week. Training in different weather conditions is also a valuable life skill, helping our puppies learn to focus no matter what Mother Nature throws at us!

Thank you all for your commitment and enthusiasm. Now let’s hope for a little sunshine before next week’s class! ☀️🤞

✨ What an incredible two days at the KAD Animal Workshop at Paignton Zoo! ✨

I’ve had the absolute best time learning from the wonderful Jo Mason from Educating Animals. We covered so much fascinating theory, both old and new, which really got my brain buzzing! It was such an exciting way of being taught, even on topics I thought I already knew – there is always something new to learn in the animal training world.

The practical side was equally amazing! We got to work with the wonderful Luigi the goat, who was learning to lift his leg for foot trimming through positive training, and then there was Lemur, the Sunda gharial crocodile… wow! 🐊 What an incredible animal. Seeing her learn to move towards a target so the keepers can safely and easily move her around her enclosure when needed was truly fascinating.

But one of the biggest highlights was the people! Everyone was so welcoming, kind, funny, and passionate about what they do. We had so many laughs over the two days and I genuinely learnt so much from every single person there.

A huge thank you to Debby from KAD Kids Around Dogs for organising such an incredible workshop (and our lovely meal out together too!). I’ve had an absolute blast, made some wonderful memories, and I cannot wait to do it all again (and maybe we can get Zebras on the next one)! ❤️

Continued education is so important to me, and opportunities like this allow me to keep developing my skills so I can provide the very best for all the animals and families I work with 🐾

🌟 Hello June! 🌟

A new month means lots of exciting things happening at Abby’s Animal Services! 🐾

🐶 Puppy Classes
Our next puppy class starts Thursday 4th June at 7pm, and we have just ONE space remaining!

Designed for puppies under 6 months old, our classes provide the perfect start to life with your new best friend, covering everything from socialisation and confidence building to essential life skills and training.

⚠️ If you miss this course, the next puppy class won’t start until 16th July, so book now to avoid disappointment!

🏃‍♂️ Bi-Weekly Hoopers Classes
We currently have 2 spaces available in our friendly Hoopers group!

Hoopers is a fantastic low-impact dog sport suitable for dogs of all ages, from energetic youngsters to golden oldies. It’s great for building confidence, improving handling skills, and most importantly, having lots of fun together on a Saturday morning!

Week 5 Reactivity Class 🐾

Another fantastic week with our reactivity class dogs and handlers! 🌟

This week we focused on:
✅ Food refusal skills – helping dogs make good choices around distractions.
✅ Pattern games – building confidence, predictability and a positive emotional response around triggers.
✅ Heelwork around the other dogs – developing focus and engagement whilst working in the presence of other dogs.

The progress these teams are making is incredible. Watching both the dogs and their owners grow in confidence each week is exactly why I love running these classes! 💙

Our next 6-week Reactivity Course starts Saturday 8th August at 11:30am.

Apologies for being a little quiet on socials recently! ☀️🐾

I’ve been spending some quality time with family & friends over the bank holiday and enjoying some paddle boarding with my two best friends 🛶💛

I also just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of my lovely customers for being so understanding this week whilst I’ve had to cancel and rearrange a lot of walks, training sessions & classes due to the heat.

I promise these decisions never come lightly as it doesn’t benefit me financially — especially with bills to pay and the current economic climate — but your dogs’ welfare will ALWAYS come first. 🐶❤️

The temperatures we see on weather apps are taken in the shade and don’t reflect how hot it can truly feel for our dogs on pavements, fields and in direct sunlight. Their safety means absolutely everything to me and I would hate for anything to happen to one of them.

So thank you again for your patience, flexibility and kindness whilst I’ve moved things around this week. Your dogs genuinely mean the world to me and I’ll always do my best to keep them safe, happy and cared for 💗

🐾 Reactivity Class – Week 2 🐾

This week our humans and dogs officially joined together for the first practical session and everyone did AMAZING 👏💛

Week 2 is all about handler mechanics, helping our dogs feel safe and comfortable knowing other dogs are around them, and building strong foundations before we ask for too much.

This week we focused on:
✨ Pattern behaviours
✨ Calm observation
✨ Settling skills
✨ Learning how our own movements and timing help our dogs succeed

It was so lovely seeing owners start to recognise those little moments where their dogs chose calmness, checked back in, or relaxed just that tiny bit more 🥹

Reactivity training isn’t about “fixing” dogs — it’s about building confidence, communication and trust together 🐶💛
