🌟 Pet of the Month - Tiny Tim 🌟

Tiny Tim was seen in July 25 for a wet, productive cough. He had a temperature and was suffering with an infection. 🤒

He struggled to recover from this infection and was admitted to our hospital for further diagnostics. We were worried re aspiration pneumonia which can be very serious. He was referred for further imaging and treatment to try and find a cause for him aspirating. 🏥

At a specialist hospital he was diagnosed with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) which had then resulted in him aspirating either food/ stomach acid and becoming very poorly.
He was given a treatment plan which will be lifelong and require close monitoring. đźš‘

He has lifelong medications. These can help with tightening of the oesophageal muscles to try and prevent stomach acid coming up the wrong way, increase the speed of stomach emptying and reducing stomach acid. đź’Š

It is also very important that Tiny Tim has home management. These can include feeding him whilst his front is elevated. But also using puzzle feeders to slow him down when eating. 🍲

It requires careful management and for Tiny Tim's owner to be very aware of reoccurring symptoms as he will always be at risk of aspirating. đź“‹

Tiny Tim is always the loveliest boy and a star patient! đź’›
